xxjulzxx Posted October 13, 2008 Author #28 Share Posted October 13, 2008 Now onto the wedding! Everyone got up this morning and ate breakfast on the Lido deck and watched us pull into St. Thomas. We were cleared to go ashore around 10AM. Regardless on if you were going ashore right then or not everyone still had to go through immigration. My dad and brother immediately got off to head into town to the courthouse to sign their marriage license. Everyone else stayed on to get ready for the wedding. The guys were back on around 11:30. The bride and her dad left the ship around 2 to head to the courthouse and then on to the beach where the ceremony would be. Around 2:30 an open aired taxi/bus was waiting for the rest of us (a total of 12) We drove for about 15 minutes and ended up on a dirt road. We were all a little nervous where we were going, and then we saw it. It was SO BEAUTIFUL! We met Janelle Scott w/Island Bliss and her husband who was performing the ceremony. We also met the photographer. They are all such nice people! If you are getting married in St. Thomas, I would HIGHLY recommend Janelle. She had everything set and it was absolutely perfect! I then ventured down the road to find the bride waiting in the Jeep. She looked gorgeous! Dad and brother waiting until she got in place. The ceremony was beautiful! Not only did I have a new sister in law, she is also one of my best friends. After the ceremony and the cutting of the cake, it was time for the photographer to take family pictures. We got about half way through with the pictures when the brides mom passed out. They wanted to rush her to the hospital, but it was 2 hours away. Instead, they decided we needed to get her back to the boat. Everyone loaded up in a hurry and headed back to the boat.
xxjulzxx Posted October 13, 2008 Author #29 Share Posted October 13, 2008 We got back to the boat and they took the brides mom to the infirmary. They kept her there for several hours and gave her a shot, and some medicine and then released her to her room to be quarantined. They did give her free movies and free soft drinks, but we all felt so bad for her. =( She had to stay in her room until 3PM the next day. While the bride and groom were down in the infirmary with her mom, we decorated their cabin to hopefully cheer everyone up a bit. Our cabin stewards even put some cute towel animals on the bed and helped us decorate! They loved it, and were awesome!

xxjulzxx Posted October 13, 2008 Author #31 Share Posted October 13, 2008 Things were kind of crazy back on the ship with her mom in the infirmary, and the bride and groom going around taking professional photos. So, my dad, mom and I decided to hit Paradise Point and take the tram up to the top of the mountain. I was undecided at first about this as I am a little claustrophobic, but I'm glad I went! It was beautiful up there. And I only freaked out one time! =) It was $18 bucks and we bought our tickets right at the window. We went at the perfect time, because the sun was starting to set. Definately try the Bushwacker at the top! They are strong, but yummy!

xxjulzxx Posted October 13, 2008 Author #33 Share Posted October 13, 2008 After the wedding we were supposed to go out for dinner in St. Thomas, but with her mom getting sick everyone went back to the boat. When everyone was back on.. the bride, groom and Earl went to talk to Joseph, the super charged Maitre'd. They explained to him the situation about her mom being sick and us having to rush back to the boat and wanted to see if we somehow we could maybe push some tables together and get all of us together for dinner. (We were broken up into 2 tables) He was super helpful and wanted everyone to sit at the Captain's table. The Captain would not be joining us for dinner, but it was great he did that for us! We all fit at that table and were front and center! When Kadek, our waiter, popped open the Champagne that Joseph had sent to the table, he put a dent in the ceiling!! So if you're on the Glory, the first big middle table in the dining room, look up and you will see the dent that was caused by one of our champagne bottles! :) Bride and Groom at the Captain's table Brother and I at the Captain's table for dinner They even served the cake from the wedding at our dinner. They really went above and beyond for us. It was nice. Time for bed! Next up, St. Maarten!

ohiochic Posted October 13, 2008 #36 Share Posted October 13, 2008 We did not plan anything in Nassau, as we had been there several other times. However, I was excited for the straw market and to shop! :D It was a little overcast and looked as if it could rain, so we made this trip short and sweet. I went in, got what I wanted, and got out! All in all, we were off the ship maybe an hour max? As soon as we did the shopping we wanted to do, back to the ship for lunch. Bride and Groom and Grams and her friend went to the zoo. They said it was a lot of fun and they even saw dancing flamingos! Earl did not want to do the whole shopping thing, so he wondered around on his own. He stopped at a church amazed by its beauty and even went in. Then he realized it was Sunday, so he stayed for the service! The Majesty of the Seas was also in port that day. Have to go for dinner, but up next is our first formal night! Stay tuned! :) We'll be stopping in Nassau while sailing the Valor in a few weeks so I would love to know where you found the bags and what the prices ranged. Did they have any Coach bags? I am a purse freak and love finding a great deal! You're review is great, looking forward to more of it.

xxjulzxx Posted October 14, 2008 Author #49 Share Posted October 14, 2008 St. Maarten! We docked in St. Maarten pretty early. Everyone got up, had breakfast and then headed off the ship. We were off around 9AM or so. Everyone in our party except for the brides mom, and brides aunt, and Earl decided to rent 4 Wheelers/ATV's for the day. Brides mom was still sick and quarantines and aunt stayed with her and Earl did the Regatta Sailing race adventure thing. We did not have anything booked prior to getting off the ship. We decided we would just get off, walk around and try to find the best deal. When we were in Cozumel last year we stopped at the first scooter stand and paid way too much. So we are walking through the shops and come across this little shack that has 4 rental car agencies in it. The guys stand at their little window and try to talk you into going with them. There was a Hertz and maybe a Budget and then 2 local ones. The Hertz did not have any ATV's but the guy in the middle did. He started at $75 for the full day with taxes and everything. Brother (groom) talked him down to $55 with taxes and everything for the full day. He told us to wait under the little portico and a van would come and pick us up and take us to the ATV's. This is walking off the boat, up ahead just turn right and the little stand is just right over there. You will see in the next picture the view of our boat from where we were waiting for the van. View of the boat from where we were waiting for the bus to take us to the ATV's. A few minutes later the van arrives and we all pile in. The place with the ATV's is only about a 2 minute ride down the street. A little Chinese man owns the place and he was SO super nice! He gave us a ton of maps, directions, road advice, etc. Very helpful, and very funny. My ATV! All the guys gathered around the map. Ha! And then we were all off! Next up, Maho Beach!
