Oosterdam--soft serve frozen yogurt?

was recently on Veendam--they have a machine but said it was broken. Anyone been on the Oosterdam--is there soft serve frozen yogurt available? (or just the regular ice cream) thanks

My recollection is, yes, but it is not self serve.

Yes its on the Oosterdam, but I agree, it wasn't self serve. Someone was always there though to give you as much (or as little) as you wanted. They always had a toppings bar right next door - usually two types of syrups and nuts, sprinkles, crunchies, etc. Very, very good! And they always had some unique and exotic flavors you might not be expecting. Try the Cinnamon - yum!:p

Always check both ends of the ice cream area -- many times there are different flavors at each end.

 

Also look for the liquors as well.

Great! Do they also have any non-dairy options or do we need to ask ahead of time? We're on Westerdam in March and our youngest is quite allergic to most dairy (cheese, yogurt, ice cream, etc). We give him alternatives such as soy- or rice-based ice creams at home. (Though he also likes French Fries or flavored ices in lieue of vanilla cones, it's still fun for him to have "ice cream.") Thanks!

Your travel agent can add his special diet requirements to your reservations and HAL should be able, with advance notice, to have non-dairy ice cream available if they don’t usually have it.

Be reminded that special dietary restictions can ONLY be accomodated in the Main Dining Room during standard meal times. I highly reccommend that your family book traditional dining as having an assigned table/waiter will make special dietary restriction easier to deal with. Make sure you speak w/ the Maitre'd upon boarding to confirm that non-dairy foods will be available.

Thanks! Yes, we have early upper dining and will let our TA know about the dietary needs. They aren't too extreme but we do his mashed potatoes with water vs milk, and use margarine on baked potatoes vs. butter. We won't make too much of a fuss, but it's nice to have rice-based cheese available if feasible or the soy-based yogurt.
