wwinfl91 Posted October 21, 2008 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2008 I believe you have to book 8 or more cabins to be considered a group. Hope this right. Have a great next cruise.
Been There, Planning That Posted October 21, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Thanks wwinfl, We'd require 7 so I guess we won't qualify for any perks.
wwinfl91 Posted October 21, 2008 #4 Share Posted October 21, 2008 Don't give up yet. Call your TA or HAL to check. I'm making my statement above on a situation a couple of years ago and they may have changed the rules. Have a great next cruise.
anniep Posted October 21, 2008 #5 Share Posted October 21, 2008 It does require 8 cabins to make a group, but talk to your TA anyway. They may be able to supplement your cabins with others who want that same sailing and get the special benefits and perks for all of you.
Aunty Pat Posted October 22, 2008 #6 Share Posted October 22, 2008 5 is all you need for a family reunion group to receive the Family Reunion benefits Work with a travel agent and they can reserve the group space for you and set the price before you have everyone ready to pay their deposits. If you are after extra like ship board credit or a bottle of wine the travel agent can sell the extra cabins so that you can get these extras. Depending on the agent you might even get the free berth that comes with 8 sold cabins. Aunty Pat
Mary Ellen Posted October 22, 2008 #7 Share Posted October 22, 2008 I'll second anniep - we had a group rate when we went to Antarctica. We had (and still have) NO idea who some of our group was. Our TA was able to add to our group. It worked out well for us - and them. :D
Been There, Planning That Posted October 22, 2008 Author #8 Share Posted October 22, 2008 We're long range planners and have until spring 2010 to make a booking. We do have a good TA, I just like to do some preliminary research and line up some intelligent questions before contacting her. Aunty Pat, I didn't know what to expect -- an extra berth or OBC would be great, but don't think I'd fuss for a bottle of wine.
