Glory Question

Orlando airport is a good 45 minutes from Port Canaveral.

There's a thread on the Florida Departures board (sub-forum or East Coast Departures) that's entitled "I Work in Port Canaveral."

The locals in that thread (Shirley and Preston) have provided an absolute wealth of information - from shuttles to car rentals (we rented 1-way from Avis), to hotels, to shopping, dining, etc. etc.

They're wonderful. Everything you could possibly want to know about sailing from Port C can be found in that thread!

After doing a ton of research, I found that renting a car is the cheapest way to go. I rented one way through Thrifty for about $40. I'm picking up the car on the night before the cruise and driving to a hotel, then returning the car in Cape Canaveral the next day and taking their shuttle to the cruiseport. It is about $30 cheaper (for 2 people) than using Carnival's transportation and gives us the freedom to stop where we want on the way. I also think that Carnival will only transport you on the day of the cruise, so that was another factor making us decide on renting a car. Some of the car services were less expensive than carnival, but I still found renting to be the best option for us.

I rented a car in August to an from the Port. The one way from the airport to the Port was $43.00 including all the taxes and fees. On the return, I had the car for three days and that was $99.00. All the major agencies have offices near the port and offer roundtrip shuttles.
