They now stay an extra day in Cairns and bus passengers up for the day with an optional shuttle service. I am not sure which dock the tenders go to. Most of the town facilites are based around wharf street. You can look very closely by satellite and even walk most of the streets on Google maps. Just do a search for "Port Douglas QLD" and have a look at the satellite view and street view. Sorry, no specific tips from me, has been 20+ years since I was there. If I was planning a trip up that way, I would be looking to do something in the Daintree Rainforest area.

Kuranda rainforest , The Daintree river ( to view crocodiles etc) Port Douglas itself is not big. a real tourist town. souvenir shops, resort wear, opals etc. hope you have a wonderful cruise. kind regards, Lorraine:) :)
