woodley Posted November 18, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2008 Hi, I just wanted to know from anyone who has cruised recently on carnival what their policy is on taking Liquor, wine, soda and water on the ship when you board. If they do dont allow Liquor can you purchase a bar set up like on NCL. Thanks:)
13point1 Posted November 18, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2008 You have to call the Bon Voyage dept to order bottles of liquor. the policy http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Liquor_and_Beverage_Consumption_Policy.aspx A liquor and beverage consumption policy was created in order for Carnival to be able to control the liquor consumption of minors and the quantities consumed that lead to the disruptive behavior of others on board. Liquor and Beverage Policy Bringing Alcohol On Board - Embarkation Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages onboard. However, guests 21 years of age and older only may bring one bottle (750ml) of wine or champagne, per person, on board only during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the main dining room; $14 corkage fee per bottle in the Supper Club. Guests may bring a small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages. All prohibited alcohol, additional quantities of wine/champagne or excessive quantities of non-alcoholic beverages will be confiscated and discarded without compensation. Large cooler restrictions: Carnival Cruise Lines does not allow guests to bring large coolers on board its ships. However for purposes of housing small, personal-sized coolers no larger than 12” x 12” x 12” for the purpose of housing small quantities of non-alcoholic beverages and/or medications are permitted as carry-on luggage. Screening and movement of large coolers through embarkation is an impediment to the boarding and security screening process. Therefore, large coolers are not permitted as carry-on or checked luggage. Ports-of-Call Alcoholic beverages of any kind purchased in any Port-of-Call will be confiscated at the gangway, stored on board and retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage. Gift Shops On Board Alcoholic beverages of any kind purchased in the ship's gift shop will be stored on board and be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage. Drinking Alcohol On Board The minimum age for the purchase and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages in the bars, lounges and gift shops is 21 years of age. Carnival reserves the right to refuse the sale of alcoholic beverages to anyone. In the event that Bar/Restaurant/Gift Shop staff are in question that a guest is less than 21 years old, they shall request picture identification, prior to serving the drink or selling the bottle of liquor. John&John Posted November 18, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2008 Even though the policy stated on Carnival's website indicates 1 bottle of wine (750 ml) my "cruise contract" did not stipulate a size. On my next cruise we are each bringing a 1.5 L of wine. We brought a suitcase of soda and had no problems checking it in at the pier. I had 3 bottles of wine in my roller carry-on (mine and 2 other peoples so they didn't have to carry it) and no one asked any questions during embarkation. I've heard that you can order bottles of liquor from the Bon Voyage department but they do not include any mixers...so you'll have to pack them. missaud Posted November 18, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2008 I just ordered a bar set up from Carnival for our New Years cruise. The prices were reasonable also. You do need to call the Bon Voyage department directly. You can't order on line.

Where do you pack that bottle of champagne? Do you put it in your checked bags or can you carry it on? I'm going to have a small duffle bag with some sodas and waters...can I put it in there and stick a luggage tag on it at the port? Thanks for the help! cathyz Posted November 20, 2008 #11 Share Posted November 20, 2008 are there champagne glasses in the room or will I need to ask my room steward for a couple? You'll probably have to ask if you want true champagne glasses, usually there are regular wine glasses and rocks type glasses.
