lee&stu Posted November 29, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2008 Gents, we'll be sailing on the Brilliance this Christmas. Have you sailed on the Brilliance before? Lee & Stuart
Donnie&Russ Posted November 30, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted November 30, 2008 We were on the Brilliance of the Seas on a Panama Canal Cruise in December 2006. It's a beautiful ship. It's not as large as the Voyager class but I think it is a better ship overall. We live in Houston but I am on a foreign assignment in Norway. Where are you guys from? lee&stu Posted November 30, 2008 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2008 We sailed on the inagural of the sister ship, Radiance. It's a great design...not too large, not too small. This will be our longest cruise, so I'm a big concerned we'll get bored. Sightseeing is definitely on the cards and I need to learn a few casino games :) We're from Essex in England, but don't let that put you off! I work in the maritime / offshore industry, so I'm always popping over to the US (also been to Stavanger in Norway - lovely place when its sunny). All in all, we're looking forward to getting away for Christmas.
Donnie&Russ Posted November 30, 2008 Author #5 Share Posted November 30, 2008 We have been in Stavanger about a year and a half in the petroleum industry. I'm on a project with Norwegians, British, American, Dutch, and Swedish. We love long cruises. We did a 15 day transatlantic cruise from Barcelona to Galveston. It really helps when the gays onboard all come together. RCCL is very good about advertising a "Friends of Dorothy" nightly get-together on their board next to the cashiers desk. This is the easiest way to meet others early on. So do you have any ship excursions planned? Our big one will "Caravans in the Sands" in Alexandria. We are looking forward to riding camels. We are also doing the "Medina and Carthage" in Tunis and shopping in the Plaka in Athens.
lee&stu Posted November 30, 2008 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2008 Yep, we've booked the pyramids and nile cruise, as well as the acropolis. We'll be doing more, but I wanted to get those booked first. We did go to a 'Friends of Dorothy' on a previous cruise, but we were the only ones who turned up. Hopefully this time there will be a crowd!
RKF Posted December 15, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 15, 2008 Hi guys - John and I will be joining you on the Dec. 21st cruise. We have not been on the Brilliance before - in fact have not sailed with RCCL for a number of years ( Princess and Celebrity primarily) but loved the itinerary. Last year we did Princess over the holidays, Bangkok to Sydney - lots of gay couples from Australia.... New Years Eve was like a gay bar in the disco! We leave Boston on Thursday night to give us a few days in Barcelona. See you on board. John and Ron
