My 3 BEST Packing Tips

1.Take one suitcase - the largest one on wheels you can manage alone. :D

2. Put a drycleaner bag over the whole batch of your hang-up clothing, still on the hangers and put it last thing into your suitcase. As soon as the bag arrives at your cabin, whip the clothes out and hang them up, works like a charm! :) When time to pack up on the last night, put them in last again, get home and whip them out again. :o

3. Take one pair of dress slacks and 3 or 4 nice tops and mix and match them, add some jewelry and at dinner you're only seen from the waist up so no one ever knows what's under the table. This tip goes for men as well (except they don't take tops and jewelry, they take shirts and ties - lol.) :p

Great tips!! I find #3 to work well; I usually back a pair of black slacks as they hide any "spills" quite well. It's amazing how different pieces of jewelry can change an outfit up.:p

Be VERY careful with this one if you are flying. With the largest wheelie suitcases its extremely easy to go over the 50lb limit, and the airlines fees for that are much higher than just having a second bag. Its great advice, but be careful about the weight!

I agree with your tips. I do 1 & 3. For the 2 of us I am down to 1 large and 1 roll on. It's only taken me 9 cruises to get the packing down to taking only what we will wear not well I may need this just in case. The roll on is for a fan that I now need for "white noise to sleep by" my 2 bottles of wine, and a reasonable amount of soft drinks. Hope a 12 pack of diet Pepsi is reasonable.

As a matter of fact I finished packing today and we leave Sunday to drive down to Fort Lauderdale! WooHoo!!!!!

I hope you do laundry on board or that one pair of black pants is not going to smell pretty.

They won't get fragrant if you only wear them 2 or 3 times for dinner time. I do it all the time. When dinner is over I dress casual and head to the casino. Dress up only lasts as long a necessary for me on a cruise:D

LOL. :o I do pack more than one pair of pants, but I can usually use one pair for dinner twice...and those would be a black pair:)

I'd suggest a dry cleaning bag over EACH hanging item, not just one over the whole bunch. Your dry cleaner will sell them to you, .10 to .25 each. 10 bags, $2.50.

I always take a bar of dial soap as I do not like the liquid soap....I always roll up my t-shirts and they are wrinkle free.....pack your booze in the middle of your checked bag rolled up in a couple of t-shirts...........Dennis

Heres my tip:

Lay out all your stuff, but before you pack it in the suitcase, put 30-40% back in your dresser...

I seem to always over-pack and bring a lot of clean, unworn clothes home!!

Happy Cruising!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too take everything i am going to bring and put it on my bed.. then i take half of that and put it back in my closet. :D

I am seriously going to try and do this next time!!!!

I usually like to pack extra but with the fees for bags now I want to try and keep a handle on it.

lol I need to cut down since I am coming with two sons who will also be pushing my manual wheelchair too. I have neuropathy in my hands as well as my legs so its too painful for me to roll it myself. I was lucky to get the manual wheelchair..no way would they go the scooter because I can walk shorter distances with a cane...doh.

Great ideas. Also, one pair of black heels or dress shoes, a pair of

sneakers and a pair of sandals for shoes.....one of these you would

be wearing so only 2 packed:)

How do you get back and forth to the dining room without others seeing what you have on from the waist down?

LOL, I don't think I make such a fashion statement that people are looking at me that carefully. And, even if they were, I wouldn't care.

In general yes, but NOT to carry on the ship. What you give to the porters can be any size you want. They only size restriction for the cruise line is what fits in the xray machine at their security checkpoint

You're right Tada, shoes are a big and heavy culprit. I once took 9 pairs of shoes, I wore them all but they took up lots of room and were heavy. :(

I say pack light and small. One 22" rolling carryon. Take half as much clothes as you think, and twice the money. Also, shoes are the big culprits for weight and size.
