Luluwa Posted December 8, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2008 1.Take one suitcase - the largest one on wheels you can manage alone. :D 2. Put a drycleaner bag over the whole batch of your hang-up clothing, still on the hangers and put it last thing into your suitcase. As soon as the bag arrives at your cabin, whip the clothes out and hang them up, works like a charm! :) When time to pack up on the last night, put them in last again, get home and whip them out again. :o 3. Take one pair of dress slacks and 3 or 4 nice tops and mix and match them, add some jewelry and at dinner you're only seen from the waist up so no one ever knows what's under the table. This tip goes for men as well (except they don't take tops and jewelry, they take shirts and ties - lol.) :p
SunnieD Posted December 8, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2008 Very good ideas! I save all the little sample size of perfumes and lotions I get with my big bottles at the holidays every year, so I don't take the larger bottles that could break. I find #3 to work well; I usually back a pair of black slacks as they hide any "spills" quite well. It's amazing how different pieces of jewelry can change an outfit up.:p
lanoitarus Posted December 8, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 8, 2008 1.Take one suitcase - the largest one on wheels you can manage alone. :D :p Be VERY careful with this one if you are flying. With the largest wheelie suitcases its extremely easy to go over the 50lb limit, and the airlines fees for that are much higher than just having a second bag. Its great advice, but be careful about the weight!
wareaglefan Posted December 8, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 8, 2008 I agree with your tips. I do 1 & 3. For the 2 of us I am down to 1 large and 1 roll on. It's only taken me 9 cruises to get the packing down to taking only what we will wear not well I may need this just in case. The roll on is for a fan that I now need for "white noise to sleep by" my 2 bottles of wine, and a reasonable amount of soft drinks. Hope a 12 pack of diet Pepsi is reasonable. As a matter of fact I finished packing today and we leave Sunday to drive down to Fort Lauderdale! WooHoo!!!!! Shirley

Kaboochi Posted December 9, 2008 #7 Share Posted December 9, 2008 I hope you do laundry on board or that one pair of black pants is not going to smell pretty. They won't get fragrant if you only wear them 2 or 3 times for dinner time. I do it all the time. When dinner is over I dress casual and head to the casino. Dress up only lasts as long a necessary for me on a cruise:D

Your dry cleaner will sell them to you, .10 to .25 each. 10 bags, $2.50. Dan
scperk Posted December 9, 2008 #10 Share Posted December 9, 2008 I always take a bar of dial soap as I do not like the liquid soap....I always roll up my t-shirts and they are wrinkle free.....pack your booze in the middle of your checked bag rolled up in a couple of t-shirts...........Dennis

fpslim Posted December 9, 2008 #12 Share Posted December 9, 2008 Heres my tip: Lay out all your stuff, but before you pack it in the suitcase, put 30-40% back in your dresser... I seem to always over-pack and bring a lot of clean, unworn clothes home!! Happy Cruising!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sashalanda Posted December 9, 2008 #16 Share Posted December 9, 2008 lol I need to cut down since I am coming with two sons who will also be pushing my manual wheelchair too. I have neuropathy in my hands as well as my legs so its too painful for me to roll it myself. I was lucky to get the manual wheelchair..no way would they go the scooter because I can walk shorter distances with a cane...doh.

Luluwa Posted December 9, 2008 Author #20 Share Posted December 9, 2008 LOL, I don't think I make such a fashion statement that people are looking at me that carefully. BambiRumsey Posted December 9, 2008 #21 Share Posted December 9, 2008 Luggage can be bigger than the 16"h x 24"w x 30"length that is stated on the website??? In general yes, but NOT to carry on the ship. What you give to the porters can be any size you want. They only size restriction for the cruise line is what fits in the xray machine at their security checkpoint
tada Posted December 9, 2008 #22 Share Posted December 9, 2008 I say pack light and small. One 22" rolling carryon. Take half as much clothes as you think, and twice the money. Also, shoes are the big culprits for weight and size.
Luluwa Posted December 10, 2008 Author #23 Share Posted December 10, 2008 You're right Tada, shoes are a big and heavy culprit. I once took 9 pairs of shoes, I wore them all but they took up lots of room and were heavy. :( I say pack light and small. One 22" rolling carryon.
