leoandhugh Posted December 19, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2008 She sails from SanPedro and the best nearby hotels in my opinion tare the Crowne Plaza and the Doubletree, both in San Pedro. don't know about restaurants, but suggest you use the search feature on this thread and plug in San Pedro because I have read some of them on that thread:)
Cruisin' Chick Posted December 19, 2008 #3 Share Posted December 19, 2008 We are looking at Golden Princess mar.04/09 where does she sail from and how close is it to a good hotel and eateries The Port of Los Angeles is in San Pedro, and it's also called the World Cruise Center. All the cruiselines, except Carnival (which uses Long Beach), that sail from Los Angeles use that port. If you check out the various threads here, there's lots of info about hotels in San Pedro. Some people have also stayed in Long Beach (if you do so, just make sure you tell any taxi or shuttle drivers that you're going to San Pedro and not the port in Long Beach) as it's not that far away. Another popular place to stay is in Santa Monica. Again, just check out the threads for the recommended hotels.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 19, 2008 #4 Share Posted December 19, 2008 If you are arriving say the afternoon before your cruise I would probably stay in San Pedro as it is right near the Cruise Ship Terminal. If you are arriving the morning before the cruise or a couple of days earlier I would recommend Long Beach only because there is quite a bit more to do there. In Long Beach I would recommend the Hyatt Hotel followed by the Renaissance. That area of Long Beach is about a $20.00-$22.00 cab ride over to the Cruise Ship Terminal in San Pedro. Putterdude Posted December 19, 2008 #5 Share Posted December 19, 2008 We have stayed at both the Double Tree and the Crowne Plaza within the year. We like both properties but prefer the location and the ambience of the DTI. Both have parking packages, offer free shuttles to and from the terminal and to shops, restaurants and attractions within 5 miles. We like the 22nd St. Landing for dinner but there are a number of good restaurants on the waterfront. http://www.22ndstlandingrestaurant.com/
Bruin Steve Posted December 19, 2008 #6 Share Posted December 19, 2008 Very near the Crowne Plaza are San Pedro Brewing Co. and Papadakis... http://sanpedrobrewing.com/ http://www.papadakistaverna.com/ A few blocks away is J Trani: http://losangeles.menupages.com/restaurantdetails.asp?areaid=0&restaurantid=26328&neighborhoodid=160&cuisineid=0 Acapulco is down on the Waterfront near Ports o'Call: http://www.acapulcorestaurants.com/ It's a local chain...but this particular location is fairly special since it';s right on the channel where the ships pull in and out...We happen to like the food and it's fairly reasonaly priced... Lots of other places in the area as well...
