Reasonable hotel near port in Papeete?

We are looking for a reasonably priced (but nice) hotel to stay in for the night before our cruise in Papeete. We get into the airport late (9:30 PM) and will have to get from the airport to the hotel around that time. How far are the airport/cruise port from each other? Any hotel recommendations and information regarding distance/prices would be fantastic! Thank you:) We are getting so excited for our cruise!!:)

there are not that many choices in the reasonable price category (with the noted excveption of Le Mandarin near the Central market)

I would spend a few more Dollars and spend the night at the Radisson Tahiti, All the rooms are ocean view (as long as you are going to Tahiti it would be a shame to miss that )

Other hotels close to the airport for the same price category would give you a garden view room.

The Radisson Tahiti Plaza resort also offers a great black sand beach and a nice resort to spend your morning before checking in on the boat.

The hotel is 3 miles from the airport. with twice a day some free transportation to the city center.

The Radisson is also near the Carefour supermarket in Arue with some great place for shopping before the cruise and load up on your coconut soap bars, Hinano T shirts, Tahiti postcards and other souvenirs.

Hope this helps

We booked on the Radisson website last year and got a really nice suite for around $116US a night. I believe we used the AAA discount tab to get this price. Our travel agent had quoted us over $300US for the same room so check out the website and use any discounts you might have. The rooms were really nice---a two story suite overlooking the pool and the ocean. It had a living room on the bottom floor and the bedroom and bathroom were upstairs. Highly recommend it.

These suites are also the best value for any family travelling to FP.

I love the fact that the Radisson offers the twice daily transfer to town for it's guest for free and also the very creative activities suggested by the property.

The locatioin of the hotel has some historical importance since the Matavai bay is where a certain captain Cook first anchored and also where another ship from the crown of England named the Bounty came.

The view of Moorea first thing in the morning with the rising sun behind your back is magical.

Best Hotel in My book for the money.

The above are good suggestions, but you are asking for " reasonably priced ". The Tahiti Airport Motel might be what your looking for. Its on the hill across from the airport. About 5 minutes by cab. They used to have a web page , but it seems to be gone. The airport to the cruise port is only a few miles, you can see them useing google earth. You can board the ship as early as 11:00 am.

There will always be lesser expensive places and the Motel or the fare Suisse ( with transfers ( http://www.fare-suisse.com/french/zimmer.php ) , Le mandarin in papeete near the market etc,...

I alway favor the value for the money , more specifically what a few more Dollars can get me ( a 4 * Star resort with ocean view instead of a downtown 3* hotel)

Hope this helps

We stayed at the Hotel Le Mandarin in Papeete..came in on the same flight you will and the hotel had us picked up..we emailed them for our reservation and pick up..Chris Beaumont is the reservations guy. Took about 20 mins to get from airport to hotel at night. The room was just fine and what we liked was we were right down town..right near the toursit center with info on each island, wonderful crafts from the ladies set up on tables, near the market...but..walking distance to the dock..we just rolled our suitcases down to the port when it was time to embark..worked out perfectly! You come out of the hotel, go left, then left again and straight for 2 short blocks and you are at the port!

We stayed at the Radisson post cruise and enjoyed it a lot too..glad we did it the way we did though with LeMandarin pre cruise and Radisson post cruise..Radisson was much more expensive..there is no place else to eat but the Radisson and a club sandwich was $18..we split one..
