Sox Fan Cruiser Posted January 16, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2009 I know that some islands basically shut down on Sundays. Are things open on Sundays in San Juan? Our cruise ends on a Sunday and we are trying to figure out how many days to stay before flying home.
Coqui2007 Posted January 16, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Hi in OSJ, shops will be open with typical Sunday Hours. Museums are closed Sundays and Mondays. Both forts are open. El Yunque will be open. Sunday is a nice day to walk around OSJ and if the weather is good, the field in front of El Morro tends to fill up with families having fun and flying kites (it's quite a site). Depending on how much time you have this walking tour of Old San Juan might be useful. and for more ideas check here http://www.visit-the-coqui.com/first-time-visitors/ enjoy
rainforestgirl Posted January 16, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2009 PR is alive and well on Sundays. Stores are open 11am -5pm on Sundays. In SJ and OSJ, most museums are open on Sunday as well, though a few are not open. But the best ones are ( National Gallery, and the Museum of the Americas both in OSJ). How long to stay after your cruise depends on what you want to do. If it is just to tour OSJ, then you can do it in a day/night. Maybe one other day of you are really into it. If you want to explore a bit and do some uniquely PR things, then add a few more nights. Things like the Bioluminescent bays or the rain forest. etc.
Sox Fan Cruiser Posted January 16, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks all. We have already been to San Juan on a previous cruise but it wasn't the embarkation or dismebarkation point. And it wasn't on a Sunday. We LOVE Old San Juan!!
