baf10 Posted January 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Has anyone very recently used their OBC to pay for tips and casino credits? I have a very large OBC from putting a deposit on a previous cruise, shareholder OBC, TA OBC and now I will also have more from the fuel surcharges. I did it in November on a Carnival cruise with no problem but I just wanted to make sure they have not changed anything recently. thanks
caribill Posted January 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2009 On Princess, the OBC shows as a credit on your account when you board (be sure to check your account at the Purser's desk to make sure it is all there). Then any charges to the account are subtracted from it, including the daily hotel charge, so yes, tips can be paid with OBC. Do not know about the casino charges as I have never had any to my account. Depending how the OBC was earned, it may be on one of the two room accounts instead of being divided equally between the two people in the cabin. As long as they will both go to the same credit card, the totals will be combined before the charge to your card is made. So, if the OBC was not all used on one account, it may be all used when the accounts are combined.
Times Prince Posted January 26, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Also, once onboard ask the Pursor if the OBC's you have will result in cash back if they are not fully used. If you have a positive balance at the end of the cruise, it is possible you may not get off the ship until they give you the money :D. It happened to us. negn Posted January 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 26, 2009 If you use you card to get cash at casino or your players card in the casino to get money for the slots (all of which is way too easy ..lol..) it will be on your bill If you have an obc it willcome off of that
paul929207 Posted January 26, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Your OBC is not applied to specific charges, it is just applied to your account. So you can use it for anything you sign to your account.
Toto2Kansas Posted January 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2009 Just returned from 14 days on the Grand. Our OBC was huge for this length of cruise. Stockholder credit, shipboard credit from Princess from a previous sailing, welcome back credit, credit from the TA. After all was said and done, we paid the smallest end of cruise bill in history. And yes, we used those credits for anything and everything onboard from gratuities to casino play. Enjoy!
