PammyHound Posted January 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2009 http://www.princesslodges.com/alaska_rail_tours.cfm Just wanted to post this in case nobody else has. Princess offers 1 and 2 night rail tour packages beginning or ending in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Right now they have a promotion for 50% off the 2nd passenger. I have looked and looked and can't find a way of booking this on my own for less money. Anybody else think I can do this cheaper independently? Domed rail car from Anchorage to Denali Transfer from rail depot to hotel 2 Nights at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge Coach transfer back to Anchorage Total for two $
Budget Queen Posted January 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2009 In my opinion, the rail trip on this portion is way too long and trees and more trees. It just about parallels the Park Highway the entire way. A "cheaper" option would be to rent a car, consider modest accomdations and see way more along the way. There is nothing "special" about the Denali Princess for me to have any interest in staying there. If you go with this package, you will be adding some sort of transport INTO the park?? I would also find out specifically= what TIME the "coach" leaves?? Are you just going to have a long transit day?? Or more time at Denali Park for morning activities???
