Santyclaws Posted January 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2009 I'll admit........I'm not sure what the category numbers mean and the letters......for instance, does category 8a, mean the deck number? still don't know what the 'a' is for. Please help?
cathalane Posted January 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2009 I'll admit........I'm not sure what the category numbers mean and the letters......for instance, does category 8a, mean the deck number? still don't know what the 'a' is for. Please help? The # means the type... For example, 4=inside, 6=oceanview, 8=balcony, 11=suite. The letter is where this cabin is situated on this ship. Generally, the lower the letter, the lower on the ship. 8A Cabins are usally on the first deck that has balconies and they are the forward or aft cabins. 8B cabins start on the first balcony deck but would be in the middle and then you will find other 8B cabins on a higher deck forward and aft. The best way to really know where a particular cabin category is located would be to look at the carnival deck plans... Good luck!
RatherBFishin Posted January 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2009 4 = Inside Cabin 6 = Ocean View (ie has a window) 8 = Balcony The letters go up based on how desirable the cabin is. It doesn't necessarily mean the deck number. But 4A would be on the lowest deck (Riviera). So 8A would be the cheapest Balcony category. Usually on Main Deck. Btw, the room numbers go with the deck numbers. So cabin 4220 would be on Deck 4, cabin 220. Also the odd numbers are on the right (starboard), even numbers on left (port)
lizardhowson Posted January 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 30, 2009 I'll admit........I'm not sure what the category numbers mean and the letters......for instance, does category 8a, mean the deck number? still don't know what the 'a' is for. Please help? The number is the type of cabin (inside, ocenaview, balcony, suite) The letter is a sub classification as to what deck the cabin will be on (sometimes an "a" cabin could be on more than 1 deck). Pull up the deck plans for your cruise. There is a legend which shows the cabins found on each deck. You will make sense of it all after looking at 2 or 3 decks. Here is a thread with some more info.... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=526680
