LUVROYAL415 Posted February 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2009 We are planning a March cruise for 2010 on the Majesty out of Miami. We have sailed out of Miami 3 other times. The first 2 times we stayed in Coconut Grove, and the last time we stayed at the Holiday Inn across from Bayside Marketplace which was an ideal location. This time we would like to arrive 2 days early and still visit Bayside, but we would also like to see some other sights. Any suggestions for "must see" attractions? Also - any suggestions for a hotel that is close to Bayside (preferrably walking distance), but also other attractions? Thanks in advance for advice!! Pumbaamd Posted February 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2009 You guys have sailed Majesty several times before. You gotta be familar with the Bayside area. Locally, you have the tourist bayside cruises. The Holiday Inn is the most convenient hotel. You know that. How about doing a rental car and visiting Ft. Lauderdale, Palm Beach, Everglades, the Gulf Coast via Alligator Alley or the upper Keys? There is so much to do in Southern Florida. The People Mover, that elevated tram that you sea in back of your hotel (connects with the Miami metro at the Court House which connects with Amtrak/Tri-Rail in Hialeah), provides a tour of Miami for free. But only take it in the day time. If you don't wanna rent a car, Tri-Rail will take you as far north as Palm Beach. There are many options. Google "South Florida Tourism" and you'll find many more. Enjoy Majesty, again! Rick and Deirdra
Alexis Posted February 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2009 Have you tried the InterContinental Hotel? It is right near the Bayside. ;) http://www.icmiamihotel.com/photo_gallery/photo_gallery.cfm
eandj Posted February 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2009 Why not head to the South Beach area? MUCH nicer than Bayside and everything's in walking distance. Bayside is good for about 3 hours with a meal. You can spend DAYS seeing and doing everything in the S.Beach area.
Nanatravel Posted February 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2009 The Intercontinental at Bayside is a great hotel. Also close to the people mover. A taxi would work for a trip to SOBE. Try easyclicktravel.com to see if the IC is still available. It will be 4 stars. Bon Voyage
eandj Posted February 18, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2009 If you stay near Bayside, you will have to cab it wherever you go or rent a car. Other than Bayside, there is nothing in walking distance of downtown. Especially at night. Stay in S. Beach where you can do lots safely on foot and then cab it to Bayside if that's where you want to visit for bit.
BlueHerons Posted February 18, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 18, 2009 I wouldn't stay downtown and you've already been to Bayside. Stay out on Miami Beach. South Beach has a lot to offer. So much more than downtown.
jcg Posted February 19, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 19, 2009 How long a taxi ride do you think that will be? We have a very early flight out the next morning. Thanks, jcg
