No, but I understand his sister "Rosie" Palm and the Five Finger Sisters are the alternate entertainment on our cruise.
This is where I should give credit to the singer Jackson Browne : " Rosie you're alright..."

Don't say that! We have a new boss at work and she says if we get out of line, she will wave the "Mother Finger" at us. What the heck is that? She is from out of state, and that is not a saying we are used to here in West Texas! She is really not "one of us".
I understand what she means, but she really seems foreign in all of her expressions. We would much prefer she would cut-to-the-chase and tell us she will "kick our a**". THAT WE UNDERSTAND!!!

OK, I know you will not believe me, BUT, this is a TRUE story....
In a bullfish tournement, (bullfish is like a sailfish, a little smaller) one participant was expecting a win, as with about 20 minutes to go in the competition they had caught the most fish. Well, another competitor hooked one, which didn't bother them as it can take hours to land these fish. Unfortunately, the bullfish ran straight at, and HIT a Carnival Cruise Ship, knocking it out long enough for the person to haul it in and win the competition.
This is a true story, and even appeared in court documents, I have the cite for the disbelivers.
I think it only logical then that you should be able to have competitive fishing from a cruise ship.

My wife does not like to fish, but loves to go crabbing. I bet that if you used the ranch steak insted of chicken necks you could really catch a bunch. They would bite into the steak and not be able to get their jaws back out and make them easy to bring in.

Hey eddie... I was on that Carni ship and we had to head for dry dock to fix the dent the bullfish left. Had to cut our cruise short.

I wrestled with reality for years, Doctor, and I'm happy to state, I finally won out over it. (Harvey 1950)

Great new! I really didn't want to take my fishing rod what with all the other stuff I'm bringing so this weekend I went to Home Depot and got a yard hose wall attachment, the big round thing and got some strong fishing line. I wound about 20,000 feet of it which should be long enough to troll off the aft of Mariner on our June 13th trip. Lures are great too. For bait I got 30 cans of sardines. This should be fun!

Best technique for flying fish? Will a cast net do?

Someone asked me about my chewing tobacco fishing method and how long of a bat he would need for a 7th floor balcony. This puzzled me a little until I realized he was talking about fishing in the ocean.
I was referring to fishing in one the ponds on the pool deck. Just spread a handful of chewing tobacco on the surface of the water and wait for the action. Almost immediately you will notice something hitting on the chewing tobacco and after a while one of those big suckers will come up to spit, that’s when you whack em on the head with a baseball bat and drag them out.
I have noticed that pouch tobacco works as well as canned tobacco though flavored tobacco attracts fewer fish.
Every once in a while one of them will come too before they are cleaned and gutted and say something like “Darn my head hurts, I ain’t no damn fish, my name is Bubba”. Just whack them on the head again.
The different species of fish in the pool deck pond is amazing. You will find your Bug-Eyed Walmart Aisle Hopper. These are pretty plump as are the Potbellied Coastal Redneck. The Coastal Rednecks tend to be high in alcohol content but some prefer their fish already marinated. If you prefer your fish already cooked sometimes you will come across a Coastal Redneck that in already stewed.
The Snobby Chair Hog Fish is a rarity. You can see evidence everywhere that they have been here yet you will seldom catch them on the pool deck.
Of course some of the fish that you pull out you might want to throw back or better yet, leave flopping on the deck. These include the Big Mouth Texas Donkey Fish and the Pea Brained Lone Star Elephant Fish. Both are similar species with the Donkey fish having a larger left fin and the Elephant fish having a larger right fin. Sometimes these deformities are so great that they can only swim in circles. Either species will not shut up no matter how many times they get whacked on the head with a bat. They are entertaining though, you can give them the bat and they will whack themselves on the head over and over again.
- Good cruisin means good fishin

I would like to point out that the fish species I mentioned in my previous post are more commonly found in the fishing ponds on the Rhapsody and other ship’s leaving Texas Ports. On ships leaving other ports you might find the Miami Bloated Blue Hair Bingo Bass, or the skinny yet feared New York Loony Lipped Lawyer Ling or the famous and much filmed Los Angeles Bleach Blonde Bronze Breasted Bobber.
Also, even though on occasion you can pull in a Potbellied Coastal Redneck that has already been cooked, they are only stewed to the gills. If you are making something like fish-head soup you might want to cook the rest of it.

Dafish,

The only problem about fishing on the boat ponds is that it feels like being in a domed stadium. Very artificial.

1) No piss ants to bite you.
2) No meadow behind you to catch grasshoppers for channel cat bait.
3) No cows mooing in the background, cow patty smell, or cow patties to avoid stepping in while fishing.
4) No rancher to shoot at you for fishing on his stock pond.
5) No poison ivy to try to avoid.

Hey, good idea, we could package and sell most of this and throw in some gnats and mosquitoes to boot and perhaps a water moccasin or two for a little extra money. I know several ranchers and farmers that would be proud to take a shot at anyone no matter whose pond they are fishing in and will do it for free if we supply the ammo. (but I do miss the Astros games in the dome)

one more post and I'll shut up.

Grasshoppers work fine with sun perch and other domestic pond fish but for the more exotic fish found in the Cruise Ponds you will need special bate individualized to the type of fish you are going for. While chewing tobacco works well with the Potbellied Coastal Redneck and other Bubba species it does not work well with the Bingo Bass. For them you might try an 8 x 10 glossy of Lawrence Welk or Regis or an open bottle of strong cheap perfume. If there is a wallet or loose change anywhere nearby then the Lawyer Ling will be close to the surface. The Bronze Breasted Bobber used to be easy to catch with a camera or mirror but the prize fish in this species have become camera shy even though this bait still works with the small fry. For the big game in this species you will need at least a gold plated lure even though the Bronze Breasted Bobber has been known to fight a Lawyer Ling over a wallet.

For the Obeseis thonged Blubber, they have an affinity for paper, coupons to Johnny Rockets work well. Swim Pants Yeowler? Just a 'little worm' will do ya. Both species are much happier in the wide open spaces of the ocean and should be tossed overboard as soon as they are caught. You have to yell "JUMBO" before you toss it. Good luck!
