Guarantee Room Assignment

Newbie to cruising so please help me see if I've got this right. When you book a guarantee room, we could find out our assignment quickly via the Cruise Personalizer but it could be as late as boarding that might found out our assignment? We're booked in an inside room of the lowest category (this cruise is a gift to us")--I have no problem with this as I'm just happy to be going on the cruise and don't really plan on spending much time in the room except to shower, change, sleep, etc. I just would like to know where we're going to be LOL! I do realize that there's no "no upgrade" hold on our account so we could be be assigned one day and moved elsewhere the next.

Basically there is no rhyme or reason to when the guarantee rooms are assigned? Destination, time of booking, ship selection, etc. don't really have any bearing on when guarantee rooms are assigned right?

You understand perfectly. No Rhyme or Reason whatsoever. Good luck though. ;)

  • 2 months later...

Well the upgrade fairy struck today--75 days before cruise & final payment deadline ;). We booked the lowest class (M) inside guarantee and were upgraded to class II--top of the category. Still an inside but hey, I like where the cabin is so it's all good. Of course, I was okay with where the M cabins were as well.

Okay, so cabin assignment (check). Now waiting on flights. Hoping to have those in another month or so. Is it July yet??? :D

Congrats on getting your stateroom assignment. ;)

Now, don't want to get your hopes up here, but there is an 'ultra slim' chance that you could still be upgraded again. It doesn't happen very often, and most times when your stateroom has been assigned, that is where you will end up. But, you never know when the upgrade fairy might strike twice, it does happen, although very rarely. Best of luck, and enjoy your cruise! :D

LOL Toto I'm sure DH will ask about that but, at this point, the cabin we have is great and I'm perfectly okay with it.

BTW--Are you in west, central or east Oz (Ahhs LOL)--or are you Aussie? Can you tell me if you guys are going to dump yet more rain on us here in western MO? ;) Of course, in July we'll be hollering that we need rain.

Directly in the middle of Oz (Kansas), I was going to put Ahh's im my signature, but figured barely anyone would understand that except those from the Midwest. lol Maybe I will give it a try and see what happens.

About to float away here, but remember, in another month or so, we will be begging the clouds for moisture. ;) (FYI more storms predicted for tomorrow and other days this week also :()

Hi

Reading this thread with interest - I have an GTY I cabin for a cruise in 17 days and still no assignment but no insides are available on Princess.com

Am guessing that I might get assignment at the Pier as its getting quite close to departure..

Trouble with upgrades you get hooked, but good luck on getting hooked it's kind of nice.:D

And ok I'll bite what is "Ahh's". Live next door where it was 50 yesterday and 75 today and I'm out planting the garden:D. Worked for a company HQ in KC MO and have driven across that flat so and so too many times but never heard of Ahh's.

Just back from one cruise and decided to check on guarantee for Dec 7 Panama Canal. We have a room assignment! From lowest category balcony to highest - BA and it is mid-ship! I saw that the guarantees were $100 cheaper now than when we booked. But the BA category is $40 higher now than our price for the guaranteed balcony. So will be happy and excited waiting until December.

We're still waiting for our assignment for our May 30th cruise. We booked an AD guarantee, and when I checked Princess' website, the only mini-suites they are offering is a waitlisted AE. We only booked a week and a half ago, so I am thankful at least that we don't have to wait a long time to find out our cabin assignment. I don't know how people book guarantees months in advance - I'd go crazy with anticipation.

Leaving Saturday and still no cabin, which is fine with me. The longer I wait the longer I put off knowing I will not have an upgrade..:D Many of us (maybe all) that booked guarantees are without assignments. I'm secretly hoping they forget to give me a cabin number. I truly won't mind sleeping out on deck and showering in the spa/gym area. I'm sure I can find a place to hide my one piece of luggage. The best part, if I'm cabin-less, where are they going to send the bill?

So for now, call me the passageway wanderer, Chuck
