rollingstone Posted March 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2009 Does anyone know the distance from the Sheraton Leblon to the Hippie Fair? Is it walkable (3 miles or less) ? Is it located along the beach? Thanks, Nancy
owl61 Posted March 7, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2009 Does anyone know the distance from the Sheraton Leblon to the Hippie Fair? Is it walkable (3 miles or less) ? Is it located along the beach? Thanks, Nancy It is exactly 2.5 km. Or thereabouts. It is a straight shot along the beach and then one left turn for 2 blocks until you come to Plaza General Osorio where the hippie fair is held each Sunday. By the way, that Sheraton is not actually situated in Leblon. It is in São Conrado. By the way again, don´t overlook the São Cristavo fair, aka the Paraiba fair, aka Centro Cultural de Luiz Gonzaga on the road to the airport. It is a much more entertaining fair with live music and dancing, food, crafts from the northeast of Brasil. Check it out if you have time some evening or weekend day. Not many international tourists, but a great way to experience a different part of Brasil for the price of a R$ 20 cab and R$ 3 entry fee.

Rare xpcdoojk Posted March 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 9, 2009 The hippie fair when we were there was a little dissappointing to me, but still there were some really cool stuff amongst a lot of junk. Have fun. jc

Maybe you can. http://www.rio.rj.gov.br/riotur/pt/guia/?Canal=41 for the Rio govt page; http://www.feiradesaocristovao.org.br/ for the fair´s page. I have written to these folks advsing them they ought to have an English translation....maybe you can use an online translation program. Good anytime on Weekends day or night, and for lunch , mid-day from Tues to Thursday. Try it .You´ll like it. ( Not R$ 3 admission- just R$ 1).
