jan can Posted March 29, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2009 Similar to scteacher's thread except I need to be able to call Canada. My cell phone has limited features and is expensive to use. It doesn't have text messaging or voice mail. I can't even consider adding these features because this will wreck my grandfathered in very low monthly fee. I will be turning it off as those wrong numbers always seem to happen when we're travelling. So Canadians can anyone tell me how they are dealing with this international phone dilema. I'd be willing to buy an inexpensive pay as you go phone for use in Canada if it can be used with an international card. Actually my husband wouldn't mind an inexpensive phone for use in Canada so suggestions for this would be good too - could kill two birds with one stone. We likely don't use more than 10 minutes per month. As suggested I'll try to make calls from ports. Most of them will be in Mexico (Panama cruise) so is there any specific advice from their ports? I'll buy an internet package to pick up my emails. Thanks.
Tweedy Posted March 29, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2009 I can't suggest what you could use from the ship. However I would definitely recommend using a calling card while in port. Calling collect from Mexico is extremely expensive.
