aloha43 Posted March 31, 2009 #26 Share Posted March 31, 2009 Thanks so much for posting those fabulous pictures. That's about as close as we'll ever come to that suite. Me too! The closest that I will probably ever get was when our suite attendant gave us a walk through on the last day of my cruise. :)
Loyal Royals NY Posted March 31, 2009 #27 Share Posted March 31, 2009 My hubby and I are celebrating our 40th anniversary this November on the Enchantment OS. We booked a JS and we're VIP'd, by RCI. Could someone please tell me what perks we get with the JS, if any, (actually I'm not expecting any with the cutbacks), and being VIP'd? We have 5 cruises under our belts and have had balcony cabins in the past. I'm just curious to see what we can look forward to. Thanks, Judy
rubrrick Posted April 1, 2009 #28 Share Posted April 1, 2009 Thanks for the great pictures. I have seen the virtural tour.....but these are far superior as to what all the Presidential suite has to offer. I'm going to get into the Jr. Suite question in the next post. I'm just curious to see what we can look forward to.Thanks, Judy Judy.......congratulations on your upcoming celebration of your 40th anniversary. When you say that you were VIP'd..........I' hope that I'm correct.......if you are labeled as a VIP by corporate, what has happened in the past...........and trust me, Royal Caribbean has changed so much over the past year...........I could be so far out of line..........so please don't quote me..........as we have not been treated as VIP's for a few years.........at least in MHO. So, if corporate has passed the "golden wand" over you.......so to speak, the first thing that you will probably notice.........is that when you check in, someone that is taking care of you, will ask you to wait till they can find a supervisor. At that point the supervisor will take you aside, and ask you to wait till an officer of the ship will be with you.........and will take you personally thru security. You will be moved to the front of the line, and the officer will Carry or wheel your carry on's. Once you are aboard..........you will be shown to your stateroom by the officer. Once in your cabin...........you will have a bottle of champagne or wine......chilled and ready for you to enjoy. Next, you will receive a phone call from either the Hotel Director or the Guest Services Manager.......checking on you and seeing if everything is to your satisfaction. The night before formal night.........and on some ships the captain has his table on smart casual nights........you should receive an invitation to join him/her at their table. One word of caution here. On formal nights a dark suit is fine, if you don't want to wear a tux. On smart casual nights, it's best to have a sports jacket.........preferrably a blue blazer, but not mandatory. The captain will probably (but not always) invite the table to join him on the bridge on the following sea day. The Hotel Director, or if you have hit it off with the captain.....you can expect another bottle of either champagne or wine. When departing the ship.........normally an officer will also escort you off. These are all things that used to happen to us, when Jack Williams was president, and stayed that way for a few years into Mr. Goldstein's era. Jack Williams was Mr Goldstein's predecessor. Those were good years in sailing on Royal Caribbean. I cannot tell you if your VIP status will bring you these things........but they did us. We just got off the Mariner of the Seas, and stayed in a GS. We did arrive to a basket of fruit, but it ended there. Nothing else came for the rest of the week. We did get tickets for the ice show, but they weren't front row. The only change that has been added is a Suite cocktail hour. We did ride up in the elevator with the Captain, but I don't think that was part of us being in a Suite!! I think we will be happy just staying in two balconies for now on and enjoy the several thousands in savings:D

emmy Posted April 1, 2009 #35 Share Posted April 1, 2009 Now this sounds a little bit more like you. and I look forward to finally meeting Rick on Mariner April 19. Also I was able to upgrade to a Grand Suite for a minimal amount over my D1 balcony price so reading this thread about the perks for suites is making me smile. This will be my first time in anytype of suite. This truly will be a treat for DH and I

rubrrick Posted April 1, 2009 #37 Share Posted April 1, 2009 So, when it says personalized attention from the hotel director, chief housekeeper, and guest services manager......what do they do? Normally the chief housekeeper will stop by and ask if everything is to your satisfaction as far as the cabin goes. Either the Hotel Director or the GSM will give you a call, and check to see if you have any needs that they can fill. Rick

We will also do drink cards for the kids as it will pay for itself! Too bad they dont have alcholic beverage cards as well for us adults, I know i could drink more than the break even point!:D:eek: There is a whole thread on rumrunners in the floataway lounge......but lately I have heard that some of those have been confiscated, however, it might be worth a try!!:D;) Rick

emmy Posted April 2, 2009 #46 Share Posted April 2, 2009 We were in the Presidential Suite on Freedom in December 2007, and they did not stock the fridge with drinks. However, we found a nice crew member who was willing to buy a case of beer from the crew bar and it worked out well. He got a large tip! I'll post some pics later... Hey Rob..great photos and I got a glimpse of your family. Hope all is well :)

But...........this is a Royal Caribbean thread!! Rick We have only been in the Owners suites on NCL, and they're wonderful with plenty of perks. I am looking forward to the comparison. So far, it is looking like NCL is going to win by reading the boards, at least in the perk department. I love getting 3 bottles of liquor of choice & mixers, butler, espresso machine, the portable phone, unlimited water and soda, and many other great perks. I know we'll have a great time in the RFS, but I sure wish they had a CL on the Grandeur. Jackie
