Obsructed view?

Recommended Posts

I just upgraded from an inside to an E3 balcony cabin 7076 on the brilliance for my cruise in 3 weeks my travel agent told me they said it was partially obstructed but it's not on the list of obstructed view cabins and I just looked at a picture of the side of the ship I don't see anything but life boats below.Has anyone had this cabin or know anything about it?any way it only cost me 200 bucks more to go from inside to balcony I figure I can't go wrong anyway. Thanks

It's not obstructed--the lifeboats do hang right below you, but you'll have a full view out to sea. If you want to look straight down (why??) then you won't be able to see the hull of the ship...not a big deal!

If you do not have a full range of view then the view is considered obstructed. Based on your expalination there is not a full range of view thus the view is obstructed. Why would someone want to look straight down? How about dolphins escorting the ship into port? How about watching the flying fish that abound in the Mexican Riviera? Seem like good reasons to me.

Deja Vue, I swear! :)

I love to look directly down at the water and ship's hull. Watching the water churn as it passes under my balcony is very relaxing and mesmerizing. To me, it's like watching a campfire. Personally, I would miss the view of the water directly below me if a lifeboat were to be in the way.

It's obvious that this is not a big deal to you since you used the double question marks, and the exclamation point in your post. But, to some people , it's a little bigger of a deal.

We sailed the Radiance, Brilliance's sister ship, last summer and, yes there is a "shelf" covering the lifeboats. We were not bothered by this. However, we were on deck 9 and probably not bothered as much as those on lower decks. Those cabins on the lowest balcony cabins have the "shelf" right out in front of them.

Per your definition there would hardly be any non-obstructed view balcony on the ship. Most cabins are covered by the deck above and a large overhang (Deck 11). So as you are asking for the full range including straight down, straight up is blocked in most ways as well. In addition being foraward of the hump the hump will block your view looking aft and if you are aft. your view forward is blocked.

Also using this definition RCI´s most expensive and largest suite needs to be listed as obstructed view. The PS on Freedom class ships not only has a large open deck space in front of their balcony, but also the steel superstructure like the Voyager class. (Actually this one I might even think about being legit to be listed as obstructed view)
