Murphs Posted April 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2009 My wife and I are looking at a cruise in Feb 2010 out of Port Canaveral on Freedom of the Seas, and wondered about transportation between the airport in Orlando, and Port Canaveral. I wondered if there are car rental facilities at the port so that you could pick-up or leave a car there when departing and returning, or whether people know about other transfer options such as cabs. We typically arrange our own transport rather than going through RCCL. Also, any suggestions on flight times out of Orlando when departing. I wonder if a flight out at 11:12 a.m. is feasible given the distance the port is from the airport. I am thinking that would be tight, but wanted to get peoples thoughts. Thanks Mike
firefly333 Posted April 18, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Yes, the rental car places at the port are very convenient. They will also drop you off afterwards at the port if need be. Check out the thread "I work in Port Canaveral" under Florida departures for lots of good info.
truffles2 Posted April 18, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Try googling "Art's Shuttle"....I think the name has changed but my neighbor used them and was pleased.
Clarea Posted April 18, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Cocoa Beach Shuttle is also a good choice: www.cbshuttle.com.
SamFritz Posted April 18, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2009 My wife pre-booked a ride in February. No trouble, but not cheap either. I don't like those ports that require you to fly in an hour or more away.
Mydnite Posted April 18, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2009 We usually hire a car, easy drive of about 45 - 60 mins, drop it off at the port and the car hire places mostly have shuttles that take you to the port and pick you up after.
wraithe Posted April 18, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 18, 2009 The Budget office is CC5, on Astronaut Blvd, right at the end of the cruise pier driveway. That's the company that I use every time.
aucruiser Posted April 18, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 18, 2009 You could probably make that flight time but it would be tight. Sometimes the security lines at Orlando can be very long.
M&M Hayden Posted April 18, 2009 #9 Share Posted April 18, 2009 Try googling "Art's Shuttle"....I think the name has changed but my neighbor used them and was pleased. Art's Shuttle website now says to email or call them, I emailed them a week ago and haven't heard anything back. We sailed out of Port Canaveral February 2008 and used Art's Shuttle on the return. Going TO the Port we had a Budget Rental Car and it worked out great. Oh, and it's "recommended" that you don't get a flight before 1....I think anything before noon would be pushing it.
