jeff33436 Posted April 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2009 Any recommendations for an Anchorage hotel for one night? We will have no car so want to be near food, fun, etc. Thanks for any responses! Jeff
oldmama Posted April 27, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 27, 2009 We booked the Comfort Inn Ship Creek for Sept because they have a free shuttle. It is close to the train station & a short walk to the downtown area (like the Saturday Market). Have a good time.
sylteach Posted April 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 27, 2009 The Clarion has shuttle service from the airport and to the train depot. If it is available they will take people to the Egan Center. It is about 2 blocks from the downtown mall, which has several restaurants and a food court.
anchorage1977 Posted April 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 27, 2009 The Comfort Inn and Clarion are both fine choices as is the Ramada, Inlet Tower or Hawthorn Suites. For more upscale accomodations, look to the Captain Cook, the Marriott or the Sheraton (I'm not a fan of the Hilton personally). There are also lovely bed and breakfasts downtown if that is your style. One is the Copper Whale with a great location. I'd avoid anything in midtown given your lack of car (Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn, Motel 6, Fairfield Inn, Embassy Suites etc). These are fine hotels, but their location is too far from the action to walk or cab reasonably.
