The Clarion has shuttle service from the airport and to the train depot. If it is available they will take people to the Egan Center. It is about 2 blocks from the downtown mall, which has several restaurants and a food court.

The Comfort Inn and Clarion are both fine choices as is the Ramada, Inlet Tower or Hawthorn Suites. For more upscale accomodations, look to the Captain Cook, the Marriott or the Sheraton (I'm not a fan of the Hilton personally). There are also lovely bed and breakfasts downtown if that is your style. One is the Copper Whale with a great location.

I'd avoid anything in midtown given your lack of car (Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn, Motel 6, Fairfield Inn, Embassy Suites etc). These are fine hotels, but their location is too far from the action to walk or cab reasonably.
