daffodiliaz Posted April 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Thanks for posting, Elde. Love to read about the Pearl. We sail in less than 3 weeks! Do you think we should really expect a fruit basket in our balcony cabin? And will we really be escorted to our cabin? How would that work if the cabins isn't ready? Anyone? Forget the escort to your cabin. Maybe if you ask for it, and you board after the cabins were ready. I know we always have a fruit basket in our mini-suite, but I can't remember if that is a mini-suite benefit or a Latitudes benefit (Or a balcony benefit). I love what passes for journalism these days. That article is essentially a plagarized NCL press release for Freestyle 2.0, slightly reworked. Traveller20074 Posted April 28, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 28, 2009 I had a balcony stateroom...I wasn't escorted to my stateroom  ".....Additionally, passengers staying in balcony staterooms, mini-suites and suites are then escorted to their accommodations...." Interesting article though :)

Do you think we should really expect a fruit basket in our balcony cabin? And will we really be escorted to our cabin? How would that work if the cabins isn't ready? Anyone? we weren't escorted, and we didn't have a fruit basket. Didn't matter to me!! I LOVE THAT SHIP!!! :):):):) a couple more comments about small details...I did NOT like the body lotion. Very sticky feeling. The bed was ok, but the sheets felt a little bit "weird" to me. Not really bad, but noticeable weird feel to them. not sure how to describe it, or why I felt that way. Maybe I'm just used to my sheets at home. They say the bathrobes have been improved, but they felt very stiff to me. I was given one when I was in the SPA. Scratchy really. Little things I noticed. Nothing that would ruin a cruise :) They are right about the crew. Very nice people. Simon Murray the cruise director is GREAT!
kb996 Posted April 28, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 28, 2009 There is a card in the cabin to fill out with what kind of fruit you want. Apple, orange, banana, pear? Can't remember exactly, I think there are 4 choices. We didn't fill it out but it said if you did they would replenish during the week with your choices. garycarla Posted April 28, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 28, 2009 This special has been running often for about a month. Somebody posts a new alert once a week. Most of the comments are that this is a great show, which I would agree with. As to the escort - sounds nice, but with a third to half of the ship in a balcony, it is not gonna happen. Besides, that is part of the fun in the cruise - finding your cabin. Not that difficult.

One time we had an escort and I knew she was leading us the wrong way....had to finally tell her and then she followed us to the room!
garycarla Posted April 28, 2009 #10 Share Posted April 28, 2009 Yes, on our 2nd Spirit cruise we had an aft cabin. I was SURE I knew where it was. A steward (close relation to the Stewarts), insisted we were going the wrong way and was about to tackle us. He was sure our cabin was in the front of the ship. We kept going and DW knew I knew what I was doing and followed along. We went direct to our cabin, and I am sure the steward was still yacking about the stupid tourist. Maybe the carpeting was installed improperly so the fish were swimming in the wrong direction. :D
