oshawa Posted May 19, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2009 Any comments re Pro's and Con's for sailing on the Nieuw Amsterdam would be appreciated. Still waiting for the new HAL brochure for Med cruises. Hopefully photo's and layouts for this new ship will be included. Never been on a brand new ship before so hopefully all the "kinks" will be ironed out before I sail. Not booked yet but the itinerary looks good for the August 2010 departure. eh2zed Posted May 19, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2009 It will no doubt be very beautiful. Most new ships will experience some service related difficulties in its first few sailings. The Eurodam did. We were on her last October several months after her inaugural and the various issues others had noted were no longer a problem. Just look at the wealth of information about the Eurodam, as the Nieuw Amsterdam will be virtually identical. When we were on the Eurodam in October, 3.5 months after her maiden voyage, there were still a few "kinks" left.
sail7seas Posted May 19, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2009 Westerdam is currently in HAL fleet and is now sailing. The new ship under construction that will join the fleet this summer if Nieuw Amsterdam and she is to be a sister to Eurodam. Her deck plans should look like Eurodam's. She is the second ship in the so-called Signature Class.
