Carnival Conquest -The Drunk Ship Cruise

I know you read this on the UK site, but I'm not sure the poster was a Brit. Poster said they wanted to drive to the port...from where????? Certainly NOT the UK - LOL! Maybe I read it wrong tho...another reason I'm wondering about nationality, the English was too American. I lived in England and I didn't find any wording that made me think "Brit". Nevertheless, they sure weren't happy about their cruise were they? Maybe their CHURCH could offer them a better cruise???? You go ANYWHERE on vacation, you're going to find all different kinds of people and yes, some of them are boorish or loud, but as long as they don't do anything illegal, it's their right to have fun.

Ah well....so they won't cruise Carnival again....makes more room for us doesn't it?????? :D

Cheers!

Kim

I read this review on Cruise Critic Review page and was really wishing I could respond! Wow!!! We just got off the Conquest on Sunday and I must say we must have been on another planet from this reviewer. I am sure there were passengers who had a little too much to drink, but they never caused such a scene as to disrupt our cruise. I met some very nice people on the ship --- with morals and everything! There were teachers, preachers, executives, moms, dads, grandparents, etc. Everyone I came into contact with was nothing but friendly and kind. If your inside cabin was too small, you should have booked a larger outside cabin. Our category 11 suite was plenty spacious for 3 adults. I never smelled smoke in our cabin. Yes, the casino was smoky, but you could always stay out of the casino if that offends you. Smoking is not allowed in the restaurants or the theater areas. Food was much better on Carnival that it was on Princess. Tips are not “mandatory”, just suggested (and much deserved). Insurance is not “mandatory”. I take offense to the quote “they stopped by the trashiest K-Mart in Texas, picked up all of the people there named Bubba, Betty Sue and Gomer dressed in their stinky yard-work clothes, drove them down to Galveston and placed them all on the Carnival Cruise.” It takes all kinds of people to make the world go around and I think the only one truly out of line is this cruiser who posted such a rude, obnoxious review. You are on a cruise – have fun – you are on vacation!

Sincerely,

“Betty Sue” (from TEXAS!)

Well her name is Luv2CMouse and she raves about the Disney cruise line.

I live 30 minutes from Disney and I HATE IT. ABSOLUTELY F'ING HATE DISNEY WORLD AND EVERYTHING THAT GOES WITH IT.

The Disney Magic was anchored next to us in Grand Cayman last week and when their horn went off, instead of doing the typical horn noise, it played "When You Wish Upon a Star".

Gayest thing I've ever heard. I wish Disney would burn down I hate it that much.

1st off...there's NOTHING more I hate then a "Born Again Non-Smoker"!!! It seems that the poster did NOTHING but complain about smoking throughout the post. It is a shame for people to be so rude (I keep in mind non smokers where ever I go and the rules aboard the ship about where you can smoke) when it comes to thinking about others. Remember...smoking is STILL LEGAL!! And, if they paid $1800 for an INSIDE CABIN with a military discount...BOY DID THEY GET THE SHAFT!!! I use my Military discount and can get a 7 day Balcony room for $1400 for my Wife and I (including port fees, taxes and included gratuities). So the poster may want to consider complaining to his TA first!!! Why should anyone expect someone (who they didn't pay for their passage on the cruise) to live up to THEIR standards??? Who do they think they are. If you want to post about a bad cruise, post about the Ship and/or the Cruise Line. Neither can control who books a cruise (or where they come from)!!! Sounds like they may be better off buying their own boat and cruising by themselves!!!

Have you priced Eastern out of Galveston?? Seriously, its super high. Sept 20th, the Crazies date, a 1A is now $809 plus taxes.... $1800 including tips, insurance and taxes sounds like its right in line to me. We paid over $1000, without tips or insurance. Unfortunately, they probably got a decent rate unless they booked way early. Eastern out of Galveston has proven to be very popular, dont ask me why.

.... but Disney inside cabins, other than having a split bath in the higher categoreis, isnt that much bigger. ... this is going too far.

Cabin:

The cabins were small, the bathrooms were tiny, the beds were uncomfortable, the hallways were very noisy and the smell in the bathroom was pretty yuck at times. There is A LOT of closet space, space under the bed and 4 drawers for storing your items. The room also has a safe for your valuables. We had an inside stateroom. It was about half the size of an inside stateroom on Disney.

Now I think playing "When You Wish" to be really clever. Much better than HORN sounds. Wishing something would burn down is a little over the top. You may not like Disney but evidently it brings joy to millions.

Kim,

You may be correct about the "Brit" part. Mouse may be a Brit and was visiting a great Texan and joined the cruise. Don't know. But I found the review rather bias in several aspects. I have lived in British Commonwealths -New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and cruised with a few folks from London on Royal Caribbean Voyager Of The Seas. I smile a lot at their perceptive on things. . .got to appreciate them. But for what ever reason Luv2CtheMouse would post the comments. . .it's not what my wife and I have experienced on our last 3 cruises on Conquest. It's not an international crowd . . .just us good ole Southern folk that like "Sweet Home Alabama" and good ole Southern Comfort. . .the drink too!:)

I sure wish ignorant people would get their facts straight before trying to insult us Texans. KMart pulled out of Texas several years ago so it must have been those darn WalMart cruisers again. :p

I'm pretty sure that person posted a review on this board.... seems I remember someone saying that about going to kmart and picking up all the texas trash....

To those who hate Disney... did you see the South Park episode about Disney, the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings? OMG.... it was hilarious. Search for it on youtube or similar...

She also posted a review (the same) on this side of the pond's C/C site.

I agree with a couple of others, she is probably not a Brit.

I actually think she is a reformed smoker for Texas or close-by.

Ya, see all the Kmart commercials on TV and no Kmart in Texas. Perhaps the Luv2CtheMouse is wishing she could shop at one . . .and buy cheaper than in England. If she really does live in England.

Barbmac. . .spoken like a Texan. "The eyes of Texas are upon you.. . " I did try to register on Cruise Critic UK but could not find a link. I wanted to reply to Luv2CtheMouse direct but to no avail. Like Rod Steward sang in his song..."If you like my body and you think I'm sexy . . . .you must be really DRUNK." Perhaps Luv2CtheMouse should have indulged a bit in the local grog . . .then she might have had a great time! That's way I bought Rumrunners to take on all my cruises. Fill them. Set them. . .and forget them till you are on board:)

Makes me wonder what Disney did to you (maybe fired you or something?) that makes you feel so strongly?

I hate the OP had a bad cruise but, in light of their review, I'm glad that they are moving on, I'd hate to cruise with some potential of ever running into this person on the ship (they'd be the one constantly whining and b*tching about something).

Enjoy Celebrity, OP.

I think this couple really, really, really has something wrong with them. I've been on SEVEN cruises so far and every one of them has been amazing in every way possible!!!!

Smokers smoking were NEVER seen anywhere else other than the balcony or in designated rooms!!!!

The beds are very comfortable!!! As for cabin size, Carnival has one of the largest typical cabin of all cruise lines!!!!!

Good grief, this woman sould have styed at home instead and I could have gone in her place...
