Are all of a cruise line ships the same?

Recommended Posts

I have been on 2 Princess cruises and was told that all of their ships are identical, (except for length, #floors), the 2 that I were on had the same decor and nightclubs etc. Is this true of all ships?

Star Princess - 2/03 - Mexican Rivera

Of course not!

Every line has 3-4 or more different size classes and every class features something unique.

For example Voyager class of RCCL has ice-rink, promenade etc. Climbing walls started from this class too. THere are "promenade" cabins with windows that face promenade!

For better answer just go to the different websites!

I heard that some NCL ships have "villas" on the upper decks with private pools.

A cruise line usually has several ships that are the same in the sense they are part of the same class so they share the same design and were all built within a few years of each other. However, most cruise lines have several classes of ship so while ships in the same class are similar, ships of a different class are much different. For example, RCCL's older ships are in the Sovereign class named after the first ship of that class, the Sovereign of the Seas. RCCL also has the Vision class, Radiance class and Voyager class. Each of these classes of ship is distinct from the others.

And then within each class, every ship has a differently themed rooms, like on Voyager, the disco is themed like a bank vault, on Adventure, it more dungeon like...

I think the most differential is that each ship has their own distinct personality. They can be of the same class and have many of the same features but the individual management and staff create a unique environment.

The Monarch is an old gal but the staff is so great it is one of my all time favorites!
