Do clamshells on HMC sell out early? and an excursion question.

With the kids, I am thinking we will need one or 2 clamshells. Do we need to rent these early (sailing on carnival)?

Also, I am planning on parasailing but no one else in my party will be. Will we get to go onto HMC together? I know those on excursions seem to leave the ship first.

I have yet to see clamshells sell out. I suppose it is possible if two ships were there. I know with HAL, I can pre-book a clamshell through the shore excursions section. But I would not worry, book it when you get on board, then sit back and enjoy the island.

I was put on a waitlist a year and a half ago, but we were assigned a clamshell when we boarded. We met a family with a small baby who had expected to be able to rent when they arrived on the island. They couldn't get one. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find a sellout if 2 ships were in port. If there are enough passengers there to fill all of the clamshells, I would suspect that it would be pretty hard to find any "free shade".

Use a lot of sunscreen, find a tree, or head back to the ship! No way would I pay for 2 clamshells!--one would be more than sufficient....after all, you won't be sitting under it all day--right? If you are, then staying on the ship might be the safer bet!

Whether they sell-out really differs from sailing to sailing....book at least 1 in advance if you feel you must!
