hockeyfan5 Posted June 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2009 I am cruising on the Rhapsody of the Seas out of Seattle on June 12, which is (Hopefully- go Pens!) the day of the 7th game of the Stanley Cup finals. (Boy, did I mess up booking a cruise on that date!) Anyway, I know that most major sporting events are broadcast on board, but when I called Royal Caribbean, they had no idea. Anybody know? Thanks! PattyG12 Posted June 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2009 You imply that there might BE a game 7? I'd be very surprised if it were covered on a cruise. Perhaps in one of the bars?
kwregg Posted June 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2009 I wouldn't worry about it - there won't be a game 7!
bjlaac Posted June 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2009 We were on the EOS during the first and second round of the nhl playoffs and first round of the NBA playoffs. There was absolute no hockey. 9 out of ten times it was Soccer and when there was no soccer, basketball
hockeyfan5 Posted June 9, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted June 9, 2009 If the Pens play like Saturday night, you're right, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed here! I see you're from Michigan, but, I'd rather ANYBODY but the Wings- AGAIN!
LLM Posted June 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2009 I'm hoping it will be all over tonight, then you won't have to worry about missing the next game! Lisa
grandgeezer Posted June 9, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 9, 2009 If it's on ESPN or TNT you'll see it. If it's on regular tv, not.
negc Posted June 9, 2009 #8 Share Posted June 9, 2009 If it's on ESPN or TNT you'll see it. If it's on regular tv, not. RCI ships sometimes carry network TV sports programming and I believe that NBC will be carrying the Stanley Cup finals. We have seen NFL and MLB games on Fox and CBS onboard. They probably won't show the hockey finals on the ship, but, if they do, they will be available not only in the bars and lounges but also on your stateroom TV. corky4man Posted June 9, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Don't worry about game 7. It's all over tonight and you can enjoy your cruise w/o having to break up your evening with the hockey game.

warrior Posted June 9, 2009 #11 Share Posted June 9, 2009 Of course the Pens will win at home tonight. Why wouldn't they? It would kill me too if I couldn't see game 7. But yes, there are many TVs onboard where you can watch it. Go Pens Go!!

isles1 Posted June 9, 2009 #14 Share Posted June 9, 2009 I went almost 5 days without even being able to get a final score let alone SEE games 1-4 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Explorer of the Seas did not have NBC or Versus and ESPN became ESPN International (no score ticker) shortly after leaving New Jersey. So it is unlikely you will able to catch the game, or even highlights. Even though I'd like to see the Pens win the Cup, I agree that you will not have to worry about a Game 7. warrior Posted June 9, 2009 #16 Share Posted June 9, 2009 I can't wait to rub it in my Red Wings fans' faces when the Pens win the cup. What's great is at this point not many expect them to win. But hey, let's lift our collective glasses to both these teams for making it to the final round and playing a Stanley Cup style series.

cruislovin Posted June 9, 2009 #20 Share Posted June 9, 2009 My son was in Spain during the last round and found websites that broadcast the games. BUT the fees for the internet are outrageous onboard. Of course, the Pens are well worth the price! LET'S GO PENS :)
