Bar Harbor car rental

Are there any car rentals at the pier where we dock?

First:

Bar Harbor is a tender port and there are no car rental agencies at the town (tender) dock.

this is the reply I gave last month when the same question was asked about car rentals:

 

Unless there recently has been a car rental agency opened in Bar Harbor, this is what you will have to do. I found this at the North American Homeports board about car rental in BH:

 

Question: Can anyone tell me if Enterprise Rent a Car at the Bar Harbor Airport offers delivery or pick up for rental car service. They and Hertz seem to be the only service in Bar Harbor.

 

Answer (from smeyer418): Yes they will pick you up at the pier and you can leave the car by the cruise tender terminal with the keys in it! They are at the airport …………

 

The rental agency is located at the BH airport in Trenton, about 13 miles from the tender dock.

This question seems to come up every year. :) Bar Harbor isn't a very big town and mostly closes down after tourist season is over (although every year more places are staying open).

 

Also most people come by vehicle, so there would be very few customers for only 3-4 months ... economically, probably not worth having a car rental there.

 

The airport in Trenton (off the island) is very small .... they do have some nice sightseeing tours by plane. I've had the opportunity to fly into the airport and I believe that they have all of a vending machine to get coffee ... it is a very small airport for either small private jets or small prop planes.

 

I'd call enterprise or hertz and check with them. Enjoy your visit, it is a beautiful area. Jan

I did see that thread, however, I posted a new one because it was confusing to me as it seemed the OP was asking specifically about Enterprise and Hertz. I thought it was possible there was another rental company.
