Renting a car in juneau?

I will be in Juneau the first week of August. We will only be in port 7am till 3pm. I am thinking about renting a car while we are there. I would like to know if it is possible to see any marine wildlife from the shore while driving up the coast? I have a whale watching excursion booked for Icy Strait so I am trying to do something different in Juneau. But, I still would enjoy seeing some whale, seals or sea lions while I am there. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

If marine wildlife is your priority, you need to be out in a boat, not driving a car. Your chances of spotting any of your list is slim from the highway.

We rented a car before our Harv & Marv whale watching tour. While in the car we saw bald eagles, but that's all. You really have to get out on the water and I highly recommend Harv & Marv.
