Executioner Posted June 18, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2009 Hello All, My family is taking our third MSC Cruise in September via the MSC Opera and I was curious if anyone has gone to Athens via MSC? If so, knowing that the boat docks in Pireus and that's about 30 minutes or so from Athens, is it better to take the excursion or does MSC offer a shuttle? I would prefer to take the shuttle if it's available, but due to the distance I'm afraid that the only option is to take one of their excurisions. Thank you in advance. Cruise ships dock at Megas Limani harbour within the Port of Piraeus, located 7 miles (11km) from central Athens. Shuttle buses take passengers from the berths to the international terminal. There one can find shops, tourist information, and a metro connection to central Athens. The ride doesn't take long at all. Road travel through Athens is slow going. Mr & Mrs Canada Posted June 19, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 19, 2009 Metro - I agree. The Athens Metro is inexpensive, quick, clean, safe, easy to use, and takes you right to Syntagma, Monastiraki or wherever. Buses or taxis could easily get tied up in traffic - why bother?
