Getting to and from Buchart Gardens -

Ok - we have 26 days before we leave and just trying to figure a couple things out. We thought about visiting Buchart Gardens while we are in Vancouver pre-cruise. One of our traveling companions thinks we can just take the rental car - load it on a ferry and go over. I was under the impression that it is not that easy. I have used the search function and not much came up - so any help or advice is appreciated!

You could, however it's somewhat pricy, and the ferries can be busy (1 - 3 sailing wait) which makes for a very long day. http://bcferries.bc.ca/ has the details on the crossing. The Vancouver side terminal is about 45 minutes south of downtown Vancouver, and then the Victoria side is about 20 minutes north of Butchart Gardens. Alternately you can take a bus tour.

Thanks for all the imput. I think we are going to go with our original plan - 1/2 day at Grandville Island and then 1/2 day at Stanley Park. I Stanley Park is easy to get to - not to hijack my own thread but I'm assuming Grandville Island is as well?

Yes, both very easy to get to. In fact I wouldn't recommend a rental car if this is what you're doing in Vancouver. When you add parking (a lot of downtown charge extra) to the rental, a taxi or bus would have been a LOT cheaper.
