Tipping room service

We are going on our first HA cruise (only our second cruise). We are staying in a suite and plan on ordering dinner from room service a few nights. Just curious to know how much tip to give as I understand this is a special service. Thanks for replies!

We've only used room service for breakfast and I tip the server $2. We take a batch of $1 bills for this purpose.

For a full dinner, as oredered, delivered reasonably close to the specified time, $5. :)

Depending on the service , if it just a snack , I tip $2.00,

IF IT A MEAL $5.00

We tip $5 for meals and $2 for snacks.

Tipping for room service is optional. I don't think they expect a tip and very possibly they have to pool it. We have to be very quick to give them a tip before they leave the room. I'm basing the probably pooled on the room servers reaction and the tips being given before the end of the cruise. They wouldn't know if the passenger was keeping removing the auto tip and so wouldn't know if they could keep the money.

It would be interesting to know if any tips can be kept when they are given before the end of the cruise.

Thanks for all the info. I am assuming if you tip the person in your room, they will be keeping the tip. This is what I intend, anyway.:)

For a routine delivery or breakfast $2.00

 

If we have a coule over and have dinner on the balcony $10-20.00

 

If the set uo and clean up for a roll call party or meet and greet generally $20.00 +

 

We generally travel in a suite so we have more room in the cabin

We had the most incredible room service on the Noordam on our last cruise in January. Everything came exactly as ordered, and there was a follow up call after every meal to see if it was as ordered. We tipped any where from $3 to $5 for snacks and $10 to $15 for breakfast and dinner. We usually had 4 to 6 people for full meals though. Enjoy your room service.
