Favorite NCL ship?

STAM

Recommended Posts

We just returned from our first cruise. We traveled to Bermuda on the Spirit and fell in love with cruising. We loved the Spirit and would sail her again in a heartbeat, but I would like to try something new for our next cruise. What is your favorite NCL Ship? Where is your favorite destination?

Thanks!

I will not be much help... Have loved all 4 NCL ships and all 4 different itineraries. I guess my favorite would be whatever is up next.

I loved my Aft AC on the Sun so much, that suite would be hard to top (with the huge verandah) but trying a CV next, so we'll see.

I know I'm crazy but I loved the Dream! It was small enough and not garish. I am hoping the Spirit will not be too big and garish. The pictures look lovely. The only comparison I have is a Carnival ship and I thought it very ugly.

You probably want ships on active duty, hey? That lets out the Norway which will forever be my favorite. The Jewel is a really nice ship. I have always wanted to do e 9 day on the Pearl because 7 days is never long enough! But all other things being equal, we would sail the Star. As for itinerary, we like Eastern Caribbean better then Western but Southern is a close second. Also Alaska is awesome!

We will be sailing the Spirit next Feb 28 so I am glad to hear you enjoyed it. :)

Dear Stillfloatin,

Which staterooms have you had on the Pearl?

We are booked in obstructed view on deck 8 (Cat G). Have you sailed in one of these cabins by any chance?

I understand the whole issue of the lifeboats and realize that there is a reason these cabins are priced as they are. We had an inside stateroom on the Dawn. Have also had balconies on other cruise lines. We can adapt pretty well.

We sail on the Pearl in March and are looking forward to another great cruise.

Thanks for your helpand info.

Like the OP said, it's difficult as I've been on three and have two coming up but........

I would have to say my favorite was the Sun to Alaska!:D The Star to Alaska was great also but the Sun had excursions that one couldn't take on the Star. Also, I was in a suite on the Sun and a very tiny inside on the Star with three other people!:( The Pearl was great too because of the bowling alley and the climbing wall.

Speaking on the upcoming cruises, the Sky will become my favorite and then the Dawn! The Sky because we have an aft balcony and the Dawn because we have the OS! Yep, my favorite is usually the last one I was on!

I'm not an NCL "cheerleader" but I really am afraid to try other cruiselines because NCL treats me so well! I won't stop until I've been on all the NCL ships!:o

No matter which ship you choose, you determine how great your cruise is!

I was in 8100 on the Pearl and, although the view was slightly obstructed, tons of light came through the window!;) I did take some pictures out the window and all you could see was a small portion of the lifeboat at the bottom of the window!

I too was a lover of the Norway. But we move on. Now my favorite is the Dawn. Perfect size, crew is always great, my favorite casino of any ship. My first time in an AB suite which are my favorites now. Every time I've sailed on her something memorable has happened. Going again in November.

I have sailed on both the STAR and Pearl and love them both. The Pearl is a little more upscale.

I might mention that I usually book a suite and I don't think anyone does suites as well as NCL.

I have sailed on Princess, Holland America and Royal C. and they don't even come close in the way they treat their suite passengers.

We always book the mini-suites on deck 11 on the stern of the boat so can't comment on obstructed view staterooms but I know many other CCers have so if you post a question you'll probably get some good info on them. In any case, you're going to love the Pearl, she's a wonderful ship.

Don't want to sound to corny but....any NCL Ship for us!!:) We absolutely love the atmosphere, staff and freestyle venue. We never sail any other line, to us the ship is the main part of our destination along with itinerary. For us NCL does it all, no matter what ship we sail.:D

We LOVE the Dawn. It is the perfect size. It has a great casino. The layout of the ship is perfect. There are many out of the way places to hang out. We really enjoyed the Spirit but we like the layout of the public spaces a little better on the Dawn. We were just on the Gem and it too was very nice. The crew on all our NCL ships have always been very nice and friendly. We love freestyle.

OK so my vote goes to the Dawn but you can send me on any NCL ship and I will be happy, happy, happy!!!!!!!!!!:):):)

for ships that have left the ncl family - the crown - great little ship, we had a wonderful obstructed view cabin and it even had a tub in the bathroom.

for crew - the majesty from boston was a favorite, we are going to do it from philly in october and i am sure that it will be wonderful too, even if its an "old ship".

Our favs are the Dawn/Star.

The best part is the spa pool lounge that has windows that look aft.

We loved to spend the afternoon in the room and plop down on lounge chairs to watch the sail away from ports. It was very relaxing and a gorgeous view.

Our favorite cruise was the Mexican Riviera. But, we fell in love with the Irish Escape cruise from Southampton, England to Dublin and Cobh, Ireland we took this past spring. (Isn't your last cruise your favorite? ;-)) Alas, NCL does not offer a cruise to Ireland in 2010.

Any cruise is a great cruise!

Our favorite so far is the JADE. Our 21 day B2B in the Mediterranean with a two day stop in Egypt was a dream-some-true! I have to say that this itinerary even beat out Alaska and Hawaii for us!!! :D

Law5Guy - We were in an onstructed G cabin on deck 8 for both legs and it was great! We were in one with a good view between lifeboats and were very pleased with all the light and more space in the cabin!

The S.S. Norway is my favorite ship I have sailed on. The next one would be the Sky, as it was the first ship we sailed on. The Sky got us hooked on cruising. As for ports of call, I would pick the Eastern Caribbean. We are currently scheduled to sail the Mexian Rivera on the Star. I hope to add Alaska someday so I can see the great Northwest.

Jewel for the ship itself, 1st NCL cruise and I guess 1st love. Majesty for the amazing close family-like cruise staff, ship small but has personality. Spirit for best decor, oh well I guess I love every NCL ship I have been on, just love cruising on NCL!!!!

The Dawn has always been our sentimental favorite. She introduced us to NCL and year round sailings out of New York. We love the New York brass sculptures on the stairway walls above Gatsby', the stain glass ceiling above Salsa, the paintings in Impressions and the elegant Venetian dining room. We like the glass elevators in the soaring atrium (missing on the newer ships). We enjoyed great performers like Pamala Stanley, Anna Y Los Vientos, Best of Friends, Vladimir Krevian and big band dancing in the Spinakker Lounge. We look forward to boarding the Dawn for the 7th time in October.

I love the Dawn and the Majesty, they are soo different but my favorites. I have also been on the Gem and the pool area is so small, I just love the pool deck on the Dawn the stadium seating is great. Our fave. port has to be Bermuda and we also love Great Stirrup Cay, volleyball and relaxing all day.:p
