photoman100169 Posted July 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 13, 2009 Ok so I will be on the pride for the new years cruise this year and my brother in laws girlfriend is going with us. The problem is she is 20yrs old. Will she be able to go into any of the night clubs with us, or is she just kind of stuck looking in the windows? Rare Essiesmom Posted July 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 13, 2009 She can go into the clubs, but they will not serve her an alcoholic drink. EM

EM that's correct. she'll be able to get in - don't worry about that. she can also gamble in the casino if she wishes - age requirement for both clubs and casino is 18. I thought you had to be 21 to gamble on the ship. I could be wrong.

falkcor Posted July 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I thought you had to be 21 to gamble on the ship. I could be wrong. here's one of the pages of the capers from my destiny cruise: look at 'millionaire's club casino' blurb in the top right... last line under 'friendly reminders'... 'you must be over 18 yrs to enter the casino' and that's kinda misleading if you don't read it the right way. it's not like you have to be 19... you have to be 18 yrs + 0 days... minimum age is 18... photoman100169 Posted July 13, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted July 13, 2009 awesome. thank you guys for your responses. She has been really bummed because we decided to take this cruise 2 months before her 21st bday. At least she will be able to go in the clubs and hang out with us.:D
DocF Posted July 13, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I must have a very perverse sense of humor. I can see the poor girl with her nose pressed against the glass, watching the action inside the club. No, no, as has been said, she can get in and enjoy a shirley temple. BlueJacketsFan1 Posted July 13, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 13, 2009 Unless she really looks that young or is trying to order a drink. How would anyone really know how old she is? Have her walk in and sit down and let everyone else go up to the bar and get drinks. That way a waiters or other staff don't even have to be see her or be around to even probably question her being in the clubs. It always used to work for me back in the day. Good Luck! mosel Posted July 13, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 13, 2009 She won't have any problem because she is over 18 but they do check ID at the door to the Disco. Cindy

Doc lol. that is exactly what I have been telling her since we booked this cruise. I keep making fun of her telling her that I'm sure they will let her peek through the windows and see how much fun we are having. Then I asked her if we should book her some time in the kids camp, maybe she could build a bear or something. lol. I guess I am going to have to break it to her that she will be let in. danixbanani Posted July 13, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 13, 2009 I thought you could be 18 and still get wine and beer with a "guardian's signature"? Maybe she can do that and still enjoy a drink with you guys? Funny story from my cruise on the NCL Pearl this past March. Me and my girlfriend were playing roulette in the casino. It was late, we were having fun, and there were some rowdy younger boys there. Mind you, we're 24 and these kids looked to be somewhere between 18-20. Anyway, we got to chatting and they offered to buy us a drink. We're both "taken" but it was a ladies only cruise so we took them up on the offer! We both ordered stuff with hard liquor in it from a waiter they called over...anyway...time passes we're playing having fun when I turn to my friend and say "hey, where's our drinks?" We started hasseling the boys about where our drinks were and finally one of them sidled over and whispered "we're not 21 and so we're only allowed to buy beer and wine..." we felt kinda bad but had a good laugh about it lol...never did get those drinks and needless to say they started hanging out with younger girls...hehe
Megnolia Posted July 13, 2009 #14 Share Posted July 13, 2009 oh dear dani, don't stir the pot! There's no exception to the drinking rule - no signatures on land, no signatures on the ship. Now if you came to Canada, they would be drinking for three years before they can on the ship ;)

yst347 Posted July 13, 2009 #16 Share Posted July 13, 2009 And she can drink her self silly in every port as only the USA (21) and Canada (19) have drinking ages higher than 18 in the western hemisphere. Even the USA ports in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands have an 18 drinking age.

Is someone over 25 cruising with you? Since she is under 21 she has to be in a cabin with someone over 25.
