Highland Dress (Kilt)

Sailing on FOS next year. I am thinking about wearing my kilt for the formal evenings. Has anyone else worn a kilt? Do you think this would be acceptable?

I have seen people do this on some of my cruises. Go for it!

OH always wears his :) We have seen others in kilts as well and played guess the tartan. If he wants to take a sgian dhub then it needs to be a fake one.

My friends wore the full kilt and accessories on our last cruise. Although he did have to leave his knife thing ( sgain dhub ) at Heathrow.

My OH and my dad both wore their full kilt outfits on our cruise at Easter time on Carnival Glory and they looked great and so smart!

 

They both rolled up their kilts and travelled with them in a leg of a tight!!!!! This was a tip from fellow cruisers that my folks met!

THere was a whole contingent of Scots on our Mariner sailing and I was enthralled...love those kilts. But wear your skivvies:eek: Just kidding!

On our FOS cruise last week one gentleman had on a tuxedo that had shorts instead of long pants. He looked really comfortable and no one batted so much as one eyelash over it. My DH wants one now!

I've seen several kilts during my cruises. One of our tablemates got married during the cruise and wore his for the wedding then to formal night.

 

What's an "OH"? From the responses, I guess the "H" is husband but what is "O"? Odd, original, overbearing, obnoxious, obscene. . . :confused:

I've seen kilts on just about every cruise. They are always fine for formal nights.

I vote for a kilt, too! I'm a sucker for a man in a kilt - must be that rumored Scottish blood in my veins.....;)

Add my vote for a kilt! My SIL is Scottish & when he married my DD the groomsmen, best man & of course himself wore kilts. DS was in the wedding party & when he had to return it at night we practically had to rip it off of him.

The hump is at the center of the ship, it's close to the elevators, also the calmest part of the ship.

 

I prefer aft cabins myself, big balcony and no wind.

Speaking as a Scottich Country Dancer you can't go wrong with a kilt! I have seen someone in a kilt on formal night on virtually every cruise I have been on and they are by far and away the best dressed!
