Just back from the Legend

The Legend is still a great cruise, but a few things puzzled me. It has been almost two years since our last cruise on the Legend and we had three of the same performers. Not only that but the two comedians told mostly the same jokes. (Maybe all the same but we didn't remember some of them). Also the cruise director (while trying not to criticize here) told mostly the same jokes. In other words it seemed like everything was the same. Of course I realize they don't change the singers and dancers shows very often but this was kind of disappointing. Of course, the dinning room staff was wonderful and the room stewards did a wonderful job as always. I guess what I am saying is, if this is your first time on the Legend, you will have a great cruise. Sorry if my negativity offends anyone, I just can't believe they didn't get different performers. I talked to a TA and she said that happens a lot. Having been on RCCL's Mariner three times and each time was so different I guess that is what I expected.

This was the nicest way of someone here saying that their cruise stunk. That's okay. It happens. Thanks for sharing your experience. We need to hear the good with the bad. It only makes us make wiser choices.
NOT necessarily true! We were on the Legend last month, and the repetitious stuff was mostly the CD comments (how many times can we hear the story about the guy who packed all his clothes, and had nothing to wear at dis-embarkation)??! REALLY...

And they act like we've never heard that story... I heard it on the Triumph in 2004!

I'm guessing the OP isn't inferring that their cruise 'stunk'... Just that there are many things that go from ship to ship, and need updating!:)

The DW and I have decided to 'jump ship' for a year or two, hopefully to find 'new' stuff..!! Princess 'here we come'!:D

I loved my cruise on the Legend, but found the CD annoying and the one and only show [in the main theater] that we attended horrible. Fortunately, there is so much else to enjoy about the ship.

We sail on the Legend for the 3rd time since 10/2006 on August 23rd. We've been on Disney and Holland America.....it doesn't matter what ship you are on, the dis-embarkation talk is the same with the same jokes thrown in to make it less boring. I always keep in mind that this may be the first time for many to hear those jokes and hopefully they will love cruising so much they will hear them over and over again during their future cruises - supporting the cruise industry.

I'm glad to hear your dining and cabin staff did a wonderful job...that is something that we have liked the most about the Legend....good to hear it's still great. :)

As far as the shows - I was hoping for some new acts - actually when we cruised in December 2007 it was the last cruise for the ship's singers and dancers to be working together so maybe it will be new for us. We will still attend even if they are the same ones as we've seen before. Going to the shows directly after late dinner is kind of a tradition for us and we just like going to the shows.

Thanks for the Legend update.....can't wait to be aboard her again.

The cruise didn't really stink, there were some good things just some disappointing things. I agree about the CD being annoying. It wasn't just the disembarkation talk that was the same it was the same every time the CD was on stage. The same game with the spoons and the same comments about it not "being Victoria's Secret anymore" ( heard that one several times), the same joke about the older lady with a new hat and the same joke about being the ship's escort, same jokes at the newlywed game and more. I guess if this was your first time, they were funny but it was kind of weird hearing the same stuff we heard two years ago.

I also agree with the other poster who said they were going to jump ship for a while. We aren't giving up on Carnival but will probably wait a few years to try them again.

I just noticed you signature - thank you for putting this here!!! My 22 year old newphew was just deployed to Iraq on July 4th. He's in a medical unit and will be helping to patch up those that get wounded. I'd appreciate any prayers anyone wants to offer up for all our troops.

You might want to pass this on as many seem to forget both of them."

This is why I have stayed away from CCL for a while. Although I think CCL is the most fun when I am with my friends and looking to have a good time, there is something to be said about Princess, RCL and Azamara. After trying all of these, you realize that there is a different standard of quality on the other ships and more diversity in the entertainment. CCL still has a lot of perks, namely the price, but it is good to experience many different types to keep it fun.

It can get boring hearing the same ole same ole but there is other things to do on the ships but listen to the CD or go to the shows. My husband and I travel with a bunch of friends but we also like to see the ship and we are always so busy we miss some things. :)

We tried PRincess, didn't care for it. We might try NCL in a couple of years. The line looks interesting.:p

Hi, I have been on the Legend 4 times in the last year, still love her!!

I agree about the shows, I know the singing and dancing stays the same, but when they bring in the comedians and jugglers, have seen them all, they use the exact same jokes, why can't they make up some new material. I have seen Tia Thompson, who I love, 4 times now and she still does the skit with 3 people from the audience and tries to make them her back up singers and they sing the same song.

Just wish some of the other entertainment would switch up their acts. Will it cause me to switch cruise lines, NO WAY. I enjoy my cruises too much to mess up a good thing.

I agree with what you are saying about the shows & cd's. A few days ago someone mentioned the CD people all using the same jokes and John Heald said in his blog that he trained a lot of them and perhaps they need to make some changes.

I disagree though about Royal Caribbean. I have heard the same jokes by different CD's as well as have seen the same shows for a couple of years. I think the expense of the production shows keeps the cruise lines from changing them often. I also think, jmo, that most cruise lines use the same type of entertainment, ie the juggler, the comedian etc.

Perhaps that's why after sailing so many times, we rarely go to a show. Although, I have to say we repeat the same things ourselves---losing in the casino, lol.
