Teresa Price Posted July 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Dear all, well here we are the night before we leave for 24 nights on the Oosterdam! The above law says things will go wrong and so they have! Three days ago our water heater sprung a gas leak and needs replacing - aghhhh! Then this afternoon the washing machine gives up the ghost - aghhh! I just hope nothing else happens now - so wish us luck, will write up on our return, cheers Teresa
ger_77 Posted July 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Just wondering if S*d is Murphy's brother who lives in the U.K.? Try to look at it this way - when you return from your cruise, all rested and refreshed, you will have lots of hot water and a washing machine that works for you to do all your laundry. Now that you've got all of the bad stuff out of the way, get on that ship, sit back with your first drink of the day and relax. You're going to have a wonderful time. Please report back after the cruise and let us know how it was. Smooth Sailing! :):):)
Teresa Price Posted July 17, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Many thanks ger 77, I just thought now at least we will buy the laundry package and come back with most things clean! cheers Teresa
Teresa Price Posted July 17, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Sorry, yes S*d's law is a very close relation to Murphy's!! Teresa
May4 Posted July 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2009 Oh, Teresa, I do wish you luck on your cruise. Two broken appliances stands for too much excitement of the wrong sort. Anyway, have a great time on the Oosterdam. We will want to read all about it when you come home. So, you're sailing tomorrow? Is your suitcase all packed:)

Finding a gas leak before you leave for 24 days was most fortunate. May your good luck continue in the Casino. Rich
sail7seas Posted July 18, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 18, 2009 Rich.... I was thinking the same thing. How lucky you are, Teresa, to have still been home to discover the gas leak. Imagine if it had leaked for 24 days and you weren't there to make repairs! Hope all irritants are done with now and you go and enjoy your wonderful cruise. Hope you travel safely and have the best time. Fair winds and a following sea..... (But before you leave, would you please fill in the missing letters of the word in your thread title. I can't imagine what is the name of 'Murphy's' cousin. :D Thanks. :))
SDHALFAN Posted July 18, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 18, 2009 I have to agree with Rich (mudscraper) in that finding a gas leak before you leave on your cruise is a very good thing indeed. Just think what might have happened if the leak had occured after you left home. A couple of years ago I left home for a 45-day cruise, which was wonderful, and came home to find that my refrigerator had "died" while I was gone. Apparently it "died" just after I left and the mess in the freezer section alone was the stuff of nightmares. The smell - OMG, it took months before I was able to open either the fridge or the freezer without gagging. Have a wonderful cruise, relax and enjoy knowing that if anything else does go wrong there is nothing you can do about it anyway so why fret? Hey, I'm bilingual: I speak both English and American. Valerie:D
