Kudos2Fly Posted July 25, 2009 #26 Share Posted July 25, 2009 sdptalk The kids are ours and they are 14. Yes, I do have a problem being separated! That was a stupid comment! I'm not one of those parents who think it is someone else's responsibility to watch and take care of my kids because I'm on a cruise. We are paying for the VIP treatment +. I agree with the idea of talking to someone other than phone rep. We are all on the same account; however, the kids will not be able to charge on their card. We usually put a set dollar amount on their cards and when that is gone...it's gone. Thanks to those of you who had sensible solutions. It is appreciated! Sandy Don't jump on people... You did not mention the age or the relations of the people you were talking about. I think most people would have said yes they can board with you. But not knowing who you were talking about. People would think as I did, an adult friend or relative can board on their on own and meet up later... So don't be so quick to jump people when you didn't give all the data.... sam1148 Posted July 25, 2009 #27 Share Posted July 25, 2009 One of the issues I have with some suggestions that say the VIP person should wait with the regular line is that the VIP cards are in the VIP room. Conversely, the regular cards are in the normal line. So, any check in as a 'group' would require a staff member to retrieve the card. People saying it's rude to hold up the VIP line--because someone has to walk down to get the other party's card forget the fact that if the VIP is in the normal line the same thing happens, in reverse---but that only delays the 'rif-raft'..so that's not rude. Still, if they're all linked to the same SS card..they should be in the same place. The only rude thing about using VIP for one member of a group is if the group isn't small...1 extra cabin traveling together is no problem for me, if it's 3 or more...then it is rude. amistad Posted July 26, 2009 #28 Share Posted July 26, 2009 I have a question, if we are booked as vip and our two grown kids are not vip but we registered using the credit card for all sign and sail cards, do we go to vip or do we go to regular boarding? I am worried if we split up they won't have my credit card, because I will, do they need it if they already set up the card online? I can't remember when we normally check in I thought we had to show our card. I don't want people to get mad at us, I am just not sure what to do. Thanks if someone can help answer this. CanWeGoYet? Posted July 26, 2009 #29 Share Posted July 26, 2009 I bought my parents a cruise in a suite on their 50th anniversary, they had never been on a cruise & were apprehensive - wanted me to come along so my son and I went too. We were in an inside cabin close by. We had separate sail & sign accounts. At embarkation, when I asked if we could accompany my parents on VIP boarding I was told no, I would have to go through the regular boarding line. I did walk with my parents to the VIP boarding area, my Dad did not walk well & we were helping him to make sure he made it without tripping. When we got there I was starting to leave when the carnival rep who was escorting my parents told me & my son to come along too - that it was ridiculous that we were told to board separately. So we all got to walk on the ship together & get our boarding photo together too. Still have it, it's a treasured picture since my Mom died a few years later and my Dad can no longer stand unassisted, let alone walk. I think it's the rule that non-suite or platinum members of the party have to do the regular boarding, but depends on who is working whether the rule is followed. Sandy Sandy, They are your children booked under your name but in a separate cabin and they WILL be allowed to board with you at VIP check in. Don't let all the chest thumpers ruin your day.
