litcandle Posted August 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2009 How is the shopping in Ketchikan??? We really didn't see any excursions that excited us at this port, and thought possibly their might be some unique shops that are non Indian art? Pete&Cat Posted August 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2009 Cathy and I stopped there on our first cruise, we didn't have an excursion either. I remember it was alot of fun walking around. Bring an umbrela.
Skippie Posted August 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2009 We spent a few minutes shopping in KTN, and we found that every store had the same junk as all of the other ports. Same T-shirts, but the name of the port was changed. Same exact jewelry that is in all of the southern ports as well. Jewelry is the biggest rip-off in any cruise port. People who buy jewelry thinking that they got a good deal are serious suckers.
Skippie Posted August 11, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Oh, we DID find one really cool shop that was a local artist's, "Soho Coho". Ray Troll is the artist's name. Great art, great people. They are located just over the Creek Street bridge next to the Chinese Restaurant. They have some hilarious things in there as well.
HalfWhit Posted August 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Oh my, the seaplane excursion to the Misty Fjords is a must. Just returned on Sunday and it was well worth the money. You can shop in another port and by the way all the ports have the same shops with the same merchandise.
Mrs007 Posted August 11, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Ketchikan is a wonderful town to walk around. Walk down Dock Street and get some Orca Corn and wander around Creek Street - lots of cute shops to brows through. Wander back behind the Totem Heritage Center and stop and enjoy the wonderful city park. Then, maybe stop and get some KetchiCandy and have some shipped home if you like. Have a great day;)
