cruisergal 1 Posted August 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2009 I have been reading through the threads about costs of taxi's, and there seems to be some discrepancies. Anyone take a taxi to and from the pier and Accra beach, confirm the price please. Also is there a bus that goes there?

Capiche? . Aplmac, I think it is well known by most who read the threads that you don't take a taxi, but have your own car. However, I think the OP was wanting a little help from someone who lives here and can find out the information for them. I did a simple google and came across taxi rates from all areas. From this list perhaps you can point them in the right direction? Also, I read on here one person paid $15 per person round trip to Rockley. Here's the CC link for the post. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=998093 Keep in mind these rates are british dollars so 2 for 1 american. two4cruising Posted September 5, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2009 You will find different prices because many taxi driver on Barbados don't care about the government regulated rates, to give you an example: Taxi transfer between grantley adams airport and Bridgetown harbour: Offical published fare at the airport was: 38 BDS = 19 USD. This is what we were forced to pay: in 2007: 25 USD (after arguing with many drivers - most of them wanted 40 USD) in 2008: 50 USD. Due to that you can leave the port area it will be better to take a taxi outside of this aera. We had all our luggage with us so we were forced to take one of the "sharks". Not all driver are allowed to enter the port aera and most of the drivers which are inside try to get some money from the cruisers.
cruisermom3 Posted September 5, 2009 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2009 We were there on 8/5. We paid 10pp to Accra, he picked us up at 1pm and took us to Crane beach. The 10pp covered taxi all day. We did however have a full van.

We did however have a full van. Thanks! let's hope we can get those good rates as well. There are several going to Accra so we will probably have a full fan. How was Accra? Did you go to the beach or resort? This is our first time at this beach. Last year we did the Silvermoon excursion so we are looking forward to seeing some of the island/beach. Travel To Be Free Posted September 9, 2009 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2009 In looking at pictures--some have quite a few palms where others do not -- is there a certain section of the beach that has a lot of palm trees??? I love palm trees!!! :)
