Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Hi All, just wanted to share what happened to me recently in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. We booked Vancouver to Seward Celebrity cruise departing June 10. Got the negative antigen tests on June 8 and completed ArriveCAN documents on that date, no issues whatsoever. I am fully vaxxed and double boosted so fall within the "immunized" category on ArriveCAN. Flew to Vancouver the morning of June 9. While going through customs I was asked if I had Covid at any time during the past 6 months; I hadn't, so I said no. I was given a slip of paper indicating that I had been randomly selected for a pcr Covid test. No problem, it was about a 10 minute delay and I was sent on my way. But then I started receiving notifications on my iphone as well as emails telling me that I "must" fill out the forms via link reporting my quarantine address, when I arrived at my quarantine address, and reporting my symptoms daily. When you review the information on the ArriveCAN website it clearly states that if you are fully vaccinated you do not need to quarantine pending the results of a pcr test. So I was confused but not too worried. Until I opened the ArriveCAN app and saw that my "receipt" showing that I had complied with the ArriveCAN requirements and was identified as "immunized" had disappeared and the only thing I could do on the app at that point was to "report my symptoms." By this time I had received the results of the airport pcr test via email and they were negative. I thought I better figure it out before boarding the ship, so I called the number on the ArriveCAN app and waited 45 minutes on hold for someone to tell me that "all the reporting requirements are automatic" and I could ignore them. The notifications and emails continued for 14 days. This ended up being no big deal for me because I was not re-entering Canada anywhere on the cruise and therefore did not need to add another trip to the ArriveCAN app. But if I had been on a round drip Vancouver cruise, or was planning on re-entering Canada following the cruise, I would not have been able to enter additional ArriveCAN info and would have had some high anxiety about getting answers on how to handle it onboard. Not sure if this is an ongoing problem or an isolated incident but it freaked me out enough to share!
