Museums in Copenhagen

Recommended Posts

Just spent two hours in The David Collection. You could spend two days there and still not see everything. It is the finest collection of Islamic Art I have ever seen. Two floors of it. And it's free.

The best part, they give you a tablet computer that gives you an english description of every item in every exhibit. Wonderfully done. You just hold the tablet up to a small target symbol and the exhibit information comes up. Multiple items in an exhibit are numbered and each have a separate description that can be selected.

The Islamic section ends with a display of incense burners, and has a "smell" display of the better know aromas. Fabulous.

There is an additional floor of Danish modern art and furniture. It is ok, but does not have the tablet information. Definitely start on the top floor with the Islamic Collection.

It is near the Rosenborg Castle, and may show up on maps as David's Samling.
