meow! Posted June 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2017 We booked the above mentioned voyage September 28 to October 12, 2017 the first week that voyage was opened for booking in October, 2016. Being poor cats of very limited means and yet eager to try out this new build, we booked the basic classic cabin and got the maximum discount of $1500 per cabin from a major agency (cannot be named). Our cost, with 5% Venetian discount came to $8503 at the time. Our effective per diem is $(8503-750)/14 = $554, not bad at all. If you are to buy it today and you are not a Venetian member, it will be $12850/14 = $918 per diem. So it pays to be attentive and thrift .. meow! . May I just say meow! that I have followed your posts over the many many years, and I am genuinely in awe and admire the well organised way that you decide exactly what suite and what line and when to do these things. I think I know a little about airlines and hotels ... but most things are yet to learn .... but if I were to pick an expert on the subject of doing one's best to extract maximum bang per buck onchoosing all the variable I'd nominate you. You have so much that many others could learn from. I do detect you might not be up for this but may I put forward the request that you post more on what you learn and your anlytics and perhaps even start your own thread on "Meow!: Sharing!" or failing that us Coolers would be really appreciative of you joining us ... because that would be a great vehicle for you not to maintain a thread but simply post as an "outbreak of thought" occurs to you. I originally got the impression that you "over anylised" with all the spreadsheets and stuff but now having followed every one of your posts I think you know an incredible amount about this game and I want to encourage you to share more .... much more. I think whereas people like me have little to offer, you know much more than it appears. Hope my post isn't clumsy and is taken as meant. <
Stumblefoot Posted June 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2017 We'll done Meow! We will be on the Muse just two voyages after you disembark and feel the same about the per diem rate we got way back when. It certainly is night and day compared to the current rate for the voyage and even more so when compared to voyages in the Med during the summer of '18. Thankfully, per diems on the Muse come way, way back down to earth in the winter of '19. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Master Echo Posted June 14, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2017 Anyone who follows SS pricing policy will know that, as a general view, prices rise as sail date approaches and as the ship starts to fill up. When our March 2016 Silver Shadow was advertised as "all inclusive" we got a requote and found it had become substantially more expensive, way beyond the prices of the included shore trips. When our Silver Discoverer cruise for April 2018 was recently offered as flight inclusive, we also got a requote. The price hike was $5100, which is more than our independent quote for business class flights for this cruise. We thought that the Muse Montreal to FLL had been full for ages. We booked this at the beginning of 2016. The only time fares seem to drop is if the cruise is not selling. We found this last June when the Spirit sailing in February 2017 from Buenos Aires to Barbados came out on promotion at a rate of roughly around $300 per diem for a V6 cabin. Kindest regards Master Echo
