The Pacific Ocean is a lot colder than the Caribbean and hurricanes aren't as common as in Florida and the Pacific ports.

No one can predict the weather months ahead though..

This will be my first Atlantis cruise. I picked it because of the ports and 3 sea days. I was on an RSVP cruise last February and loved it. Hoping the Atlantis will be fun as well. I'm an older single guy hoping to fit in. RSVP was easy and very enjoyable.

Hello...I just booked this cruise for October. FYI--I've done this cruise with Atlantis several years in the past and you get a wide variety of guys. Very similar to RSVP. No problems fitting in. Atlantis will host an official singles/solo get together right after we sail out of San Diego and then there is a daily solos/singles non-hosted cocktail gathering at in one of bars each night. There is usually two solo/singles dinners during the cruise where you change tables after each course. Fun way to meet a lot of guys over the course of meal. Hope to see you on board. Jim

We have been on six Atlantis cruises but the last one was about six years ago. I really feel that we would now fit in more on RSVP because of our age. However we had already booked the Oosterdam for the previous week's cruise on the same itinerary through HAL so we decided to just stay on the ship.

My biggest question is about the theme parties and the sequence of those parties.

Can anyone give us a general idea of the special themes so that we can come more or less prepared.

Thanks.

Atlantis usually send out a general email regarding themed parties somewhere between 3-4 weeks and a full PDF daily lineup of parties and entertainment about 2 weeks prior to departure. Don't expect this any earlier. Atlantis doesn't finalize the schedule with HAL until 2 weeks and they don't want to disappoint people if things change. That being said...you have nothing to worry about and you'll have plenty of time to get ready. Since our cruise is in October with Halloween coming up the stores are full of party/costumes, ideas etc. From my past cruises you can expect something Military themed, Disco, White, Tropical, swim ware, Mardi Gras, 80 or 90's themed. Usually since the weather is cool the first and last night and they are working on putting up/taking down the lighting/sound system the parties will be held indoor - no theme. There will be 3 afternoon T-dances from 4-7PM - Military, Tropical/swim suit, Retro Disco. The rest of evenings we will have some sort of themed party with maybe the exception of Puerto Vallarta since the ship doesn't leave until 2AM and most everyone is in port.

Comboy,

Thanks for refreshing our memories. I do remember that in October San Diego can be not quite summer weather - more like high 60s to low 70s. Always good to have a jacket at hand. Now we have to find out if we must debark and then get back on the ship or whether we can just stay on when the ship returns to San Diego on October 14. Also we might try to make some specialty restaurant reservations before the masses arrive. I think the last time we did an Atlantis Halloween cruise it was from LA on a Royal Caribbean ship.

Are there usually Bon Voyage parties the night before the cruise? I've only sailed RSVP out of FLL and there were many parties the night before in Wilton Manors.

Also, Atlantis has a reputation for attracting younger hard partying guys. I hope that more mature non-partying men are welcome too.

Usually the first and last day are rather cool. Once the ship gets down to Cabo it gets hot and humid fast. Regarding B2B RCI should give you instructions in your cabin and what the procedure are. You can always just check with guest relations once on board. Usually you will meet in one of the lounges, escorted off and then right back on. I doubt many will be doing B2B. Just to note: Atlantis and RSVP doing things a tad different with specialty dining. Reservation can only be made that day for that night with suite passengers given preference in advance. So you could make specialty dining reservations for embarkation day only; but not for any future nights. I guess it's a fairness issue since specialty dining is very popular on the charters and a perk for suite passengers.

Maybe, if there is a pre-cruise party in San Deigo Atlantis will send you an email with details. I would aspect one. No, that's not all together true that Atlantis just attract younger hard partying guys. Sure, you will find some; but the passenger mix ranges the gamut from twinks to seniors, bears to smooth gym bunnies. Everyone should fit in. Atlantis' marketing material is not accurate....but sex sells cruises. I've met all types of guys from all over the world on these cruises. No worries.

Hi,

My friend and I just booked this Cruise a month ago last minute, this is our first gay cruise and we're looking forward to it.

Billy N

Welcome on board. I've done many Atlantis cruises and they are spectacular. Atlantis does a great job with entertainment and on board activities. You'll have a wonderful time. Jim

On my last several Atlantis cruises there has been a clothing optional area. It has been on the highest desk or forward away from the main pool area. Where on the Oosterdam I'm not sure. If there is a clothing optional area it will be noted in the ship's newsletter. I would doubt if there is any waiter/bar service in that area.
