To the best of my knowledge you can only book the Retreat once in board. On certain cruises (Caribbean) you can only book for the whole cruise on boarding with odd days only available after everyone is on board and they have seen how many "whole cruise" passes they have sold.

Hi, I believe you can only book on board, when there are a fixed number of spaces which are sold as a package (£300 for 2 on 12 nights on Britannia) then any spare spaces I think are sold daily on a first come first served basis. This is similar to the hydro pool on Britannia, they tell you only 60 spaces - which is true but the reality in my experience was that only a handful signed up. Of course the Retreat is a different matter as more people may value the option of the serenity on a child friendly ship so there may be more who are prepared to pay for the full cruise - I guess they weigh up the number of ports and weather and decide if it's worth it.
