Need suggestion for snorkeling excursion in Nassau

Question about excursions out of Nassau.

I am sailing on the Norwegian Escape March 11 and I am interesting in some really good snorkeling that day. I don't especially care for the excursions offered through NCL, so I was hoping one of my fellow cruisers might have a suggestion for me.

Has anyone done a snorkeling excursion with either Flying Cloud or Seahorse Sailing out of Nassau? Just wondering if anyone has a preference.

Thanks in advance one and all!

We're looking at going in April through Carnival, and I'm researching different places on TripAdvisor now. Looks like Blue Hole Watersports and Island Time Charters both have good reviews, and both offer snorkeling for $55 pp. Anyone have other ideas? Any experience with these guys?

I did a snorkeling trip with Stuart's Cove on my first trip to Nassau. It was a lot of fun.

Looks like Stuart Cove is the same company used by Carnival. Found a better one through ShoreExcursioneer. 5.5 hours, 3 different drops (reef, a movie shipwreck, reef sharks) for $80 per adult, $40 per kid (4-11). Sounds like fun! :)

Did you get any response from anyone? We are going to be in Nassau on March 19, and are also considering the Flying Cloud 🐟

Hi GeekSquad4,

Checked out the website fro ShoreExcursioneer, looks good, my only concern is they repeatedly say boat, with no mention of the kind of boat, any other information you found out about that ? That's just something I am comparing...

Thanks for the response Sumner5

I really want to, but I have 4 other ladies trying to make decisions ;)

Totally get it. Rose island is a little slice of paradise and any boat that can get you there is worth it [emoji4]

I have used Stuarts Cove 3 times in the past. We are going back on March 27. I always book out side of Carnival. They pick you up by the water fountain. and drop you off there right after. You stop at three stops during the trip. The first two are either/or coral reefs/ movie sets. the third is snorkeling with the sharks. They are a first rate dive shop and answer any questions.

My group islooking as well and have tried twice to contact Flying Cloud with no response to my emails. Anybody have other suggestions on places to snorkel that will also include sharks? TIA

I didn't get any response to emails either, so I called. A lady answered immediately, took our names for reservation, gave us directions to meet shuttle, and we are booked on March 19th. I will let you know how it goes

Please come back and let us know. We are traveling in May and I made reservations with Pat and Diane who had excellent reviews. Received an e-mail today saying due to conditions from Hurricane Mathew, they are no longer doing snorkeling trips.

I am following this, we sail on Norwegian Escape on April 22 and would like to do a snorkeling excursion. I am going to look up the ones suggested, including the flying cloud to Rose Island looked good, my only concern is We are in nassau from noon till 7 PM. They have a half day leaving paradise Island at 2 PM, I believe we wouldn't have an issue getting there for that. It states it is 3.5 hours, So we would get back to Paradise Island by 5:30. Do you have to take a water taxi from Paradise Island, or can you take a taxi, and how long would that take, as our ship leaves at 7 PM

They are providing a shuttle, I will let you know how it goes. I was told 10-15 minute ride, we are doing the Sunday 10-3, they said to be at shuttle stop at 9:15am. Probably lots of time to gather everyone. We are scheduled to be at port from 8-5. I actually had someone on TripAdvisor provide me with a picture of shuttle stop. Happy to share what I learn and enjoy when we return.

They are providing the shuttle from the cruise port? Please let me know how that goes. Also, looking at the Shoreexcursioneer website, I think someone mentioned above, tour the ship wreck, or movie site and possible sharks. So That is a 35 minute ride from the pier. They state that the afternoon tours will leave and head back to pier at 5:00 to 5:45. That's a pretty wide window, and with a "35 minute ride" back to pier, do you think we would be safe for a 7 PM sailing from the pier?

Hmm.. Yeah.. That does seem to be cutting it close. If "5 to 5:45" turns into "6 or 6:30", you'll be crossing your fingers the whole way for no snags in your trip back. I would check for reviews wherever possible to see what others say about their punctuality.

Back from Nassau yesterday, the Flying Cloud excursion was a huge success!! A beautiful boat, very helpful crew. The shuttle was punctual, and picked us up at Rawsom Square. They had picked up other guests from some hotels first. We only had about 25-30 on the boat. Someone people had prepaid, but we had made reservations and paid cash or credit card on the boat. We seat sail at 10 am, and as described. We had a fantastic day on the water, stopped to snorkel, equipment provided, instruction too. They helped people who needed it. We had a couple small children, and older people, a wide variety of ages. They served a delicious lunch on board. Non stop rum punch,, and water, soda and newer for a nominal fee. We stopped at Rose island the most beautiful beach you ever saw. The sail back was glorious. The shuttle took us back to the ship, stopped at a couple hotels to let other people off. Very clear communication what was going on. It ended up we couldn't get all the way back to the ship on the shuttle, there was a parade in town!? No worries we walked a little farther around parade back to ship, plenty of time. Very Happy with Flying Cloud, happy to answer any questions.

That sounds like a fun day! Thank you for sharing. How much did it cost per person?
