  1. Thanks CrazyMutherTrucker. Since I sent email yesterday, I went through the inquiry form on Spencer's website just now and sent it. This is rather short notice since our cruise is on 9/20/15 so he could be booked. We'd just like to know so we can go through with a backup plan if there is still time. When is your cruise? Hopefully you have more time to plan. :)

Mine is out of San Juan on 9-20!!!!! Going to be in St Lucia 9-24.

  2. Hello Stinger-pr! I actually used both. I did their web form and then received confirmation email letting me know that my request was received but also stated:

"Within the next 24-48 hours, you will receive a personal response from Spencer. In this email price, availability, time and pick-up location will be confirmed. A space for you is not reserved until you receive this email. If you do not receive an email confirmation within 48 hours, please check your spam folder before contacting Spencer."

That was last Friday and yesterday afternoon I sent an inquiry on the status to the email address I have for them and same one that the confirmation came from. I did just notice the "contact us" section on their website. I might give that a try.

Stinger-pr, here's our email if you wanted to try to meet up to say hello while we're in San Juan on 9/19 & 9/20: dgieh@comcast.net Thanks again for the information, I'll try their webpage and see.

I would try again. I did mine on Tuesday and received my confirmation email late last night.

  3. You can probably do better than Bacardi. But since it is the distillery (take the tour) and their gift shop may have even more exotic Bacardi rums.

Thank you so much!!!! Your reply was exactly what i was looking for. If you think of anything else, I would be very appreciative.

Pretty much the only souvenir we buy on vacation is alcohol. The bottles are pretty. It's fun to drink. And I like to find things my local store don't have. We usually have a good memory of each place we buy them at and tell the story when we finally open a bottle. The bottle of Nassau Royal we bought at the Graycliff Hotel in the Bahamas that looked right out of an old James Bond movie. Sat at the bar for 3 hours talking politics with the bartender, getting drunk on her "light" rum punch. Best day of that vacation and whenever we just look at THAT BOTTLE we remember the whole trip and how much fun it was.

  4. On my latest trip in the area I picked up a couple bottles of RMA, Ron Medellin Anejo, rum. I gave one bottle to a couple friends of mine, I don't know if they opened it. I don't know if I'll open my remaining bottle or not. Of course if I do then I'll just have to schedule another cruise to replace it.:D

Where did you get this at? I'm trying to figure out which items to buy at each port. Rum is my personal favorite to buy in the Caribbean.

  5. I've have no problem getting them back. Last 8 vacations, one of which was a cruise, we bought around 10 liters and claimed them on the forms and no one said anything. We also fly Southwest just for the luggage allowance. Between flying and shipping from San Juan, getting things back is no problem.

  6. Thats kind of why I was asking peoples opinion. I have never been to these places so my list just comes from a google search of Caribbean Distilleries. Need a better list from people that already traveled there.

Sent from my GT-P5210 using Forums mobile app

  7. This is my second cruise and before the first one my fiance and I decided for souvenirs from each port we would get alcohol from that country, if they dont distille it there they probably have someone that blends it so. We buy a botlle, or 2 or 3 or 4, and write the location and date in a sparkly sharpie. On the Breeze last Dec we got something from Turks and Caicos, Appleton in Jamaica and Nassau Royale in the Bahamas. This trip is the Valor which hits 5 island's besided San Juan. So far this is my list of possible contenders

    SAN JUAN

    Bacardi Reserve Limited

    ST THOMAS

    Black Beards Castle Old

    BARBADOS

    Mount Gay

    ST LUCIA

    Chairmans Reserve Forgotten Cask

    Casteries Creme

    ST KITTS

    Belmont Estate Rum

    Cane Spirit Ritchmont

    ST MARTIN

    Guavaberry

    Sint Maarten Island Vanilla

Is there anything you would add to my list? Anything island exclusive that you think would make an excellent souvenir?

  8. Thank You so much. I didnt want to just spend money on knick knacks that in 10 years i would forget where they even came from. This was something that I hoped I could personalize and have as a meaningful keepsake. Especially if i could have the person that sells it to me sign it as well.

  9. I was trying to think up a neat souvenir from our first (and hopefully not last cruise). Though not really a heavy drinker, i decided on getting a bottle of alcohol from each country visited and hopefully get a local to sign it. Even getting a silver or gold sharpie. Thing is i didnt want something that is easily imported that i could pick up at the liquor store down the street. So i need help from people that know booze and have actually been to these places. Anyone have a suggestion for the Bahamas? Also going to Grand Turk and Ocho Rios if you have suggestions for those places too.

    Thanks

  10. I have emailed them twice to see about the day rate for the room but have never received a reply. Finally called and they said to call back closer to the date. Problem is its only 16 days away and i dont know how much closer they mean. Tried calling the Whyndham and they would not answer their phone at the front desk. Does anyone know if Whyndham has a day rate for a room. That way we can get a quick shower before heading back out?

  11. Going on our first cruise Dec 1st and was called twice!!!!! First time was a free upgrade from deck 6 to deck 9 because our original room was a 3 person room. Then called again on Friday to upsell to a suite for 300 more. Since its our first cruise and I am taking the WHOLE family, i said do it. Just paid the difference on all the rooms. Had the most awesomest lady call me named Natasha. She could sell snow in a blizzard. I loved talking to her.
